A hallmark of any good company is thinking ahead and preparing itself for the next iteration of performance. At the same time, recognizing the models that laid the foundation. This is what brings Signature Wheel into preparing some maximum fitments for the ongoing GT350/R, as well as the upcoming GT500.

Over the last few years I have been through 8-10 sets of wheels on my own GT350 and GT350R. Each set came at a personal cost of a few grand, but the ability to test wheel, tire, and offset combinations on my own car was important. Also partnering with track focused entities like the Ford Performance Racing School to put products to the test. Fully understanding and being able to explain what will and will not work on these cars is what I believe sets us apart from other companies. Through that process I have a gained a better understanding of what these platforms want, both on track and the street.

It has been established that the 950A Carbon Package production will be limited, and there will be many GT500’s with aluminum wheels having a smaller footprint for traction. We are aiming to fulfill the needs of those owners with rim selections that can allow you to maximize grip on track, as well as offer street or track setups for those ordering carbon wheel cars. If any of you have seen the front offsets of the GT500 we anticipate the sunken in look of the front wheels is going to leave many wanting more. Whether your desire is less weight, more caliper clearance, wheel rotation at all 4 corners, or a more aggressive stance we can oblige.

The GT350 and GT500 will have many similarities in terms of suspension geometry and philosophy when it comes to track performance, meaning many of the lessons learned from the GT350 will carryover. The newer GT500 brake system is really going to change the game as the car will come with a 20” wheel standard, and 19” wheel fitment unlikely to be an option. With a bridge design similar to the GT350 caliper we would also anticipate many aftermarket 20” options causing caliper/barrel damage as seen on the GT350 as well. This is what brings me to introduce our new maximum fitments for the GT350 and GT500.

On the GT350 we have had great success with the 19x11.5 square setup on track. This fitment allows you to run a 315/30/19 Pilot Sport Cup 2 at all 4 corners and rotate the wheels/tires side to side. We also have recommendations for a great street tire. As a street or track setup this will give you plenty of the grip you need.

Street testing for the 20x11.5 square setup for the GT500/GT350 has gone extremely well. This setup allows you to run a 325/25/20 square on the street with no rubbing, scrubbing, or modifications. We also have several other street/track tire options depending on the look you want, road conditions, or sidewall needs.

I cannot wait to take care of those first lucky owners that bring a GT500 our way. Our ability to custom build each set of fully forged wheels for street, track, or drag strip needs will continue on. Weights for the monoblock 19” - 20” setups fall between 20-26 lbs depending on the offset, width, and wheel design. I would be remiss for not mentioning that 19x12 and 20x12 rear fitments are also available for those drag strip lovers. However, they have not yet been tested for that environment, and generally push the limits of inboard/outer fender clearance under suspension compression conditions.

For those of you in the market for the GT500 we would love to hear what you project as being the best fitment on the car for your anticipated driving habits. Happy motoring!

I like to disassemble things.
Can't say when but a custom GT500 wheel is definitely in my future. Glad you're there T.

If you are looking to get some measurements off a CFTP, then I suggest you plan on getting your ass on a jet plane and coming to see me. Im interested as well, but at a certain price point. You said above a few thousand dollars...... well I'm in

What concerns me the most about the new carbon fiber wheels is caliper clearance. (sound familliar?)

See my photo below.

That caliper clearance is right up there with 6GR wheels. We all know how that turns out and the damage that does.

Do you plan to do something similar to correct the problem with your new wheels for the GT500? I would be interested in OEM replica wheels, not some variation of a pimped out Starbucks cruiser.

T,

Glad you mentioned the 6GR/OEM wheel. The issue in the caliper clearance is the design of the barrel. The Signature and 6GR/OEM wheel are fundamentally different from an engineering standpoint. Our beveled barrel design will double the OEM/6GR clearance of the barrel at the caliper. The Signature wheel wont merely mitigate the issue, it eliminates it.

Few questions.

1. What offsets are you running on the 20x11.5 square setup?
2. Have you done any actual GT500 fitment yet? I assume not?
3. Is it possible to use the same offset wheel front to back and just use bolt on wheels spacers to allow for rotation? I know wheel spacers are always controversial subject but would be nice to rotate.
4. Do you foresee the concavity profile of most wheels to be similar to GT350? I am guessing any possible gain by the wider front fenders will be negated by the larger calipers.

thanks

Hey brother, lets get to talking a bit more and answer some questions

1) Offsets on the 20x11.5 square setup probably wont get released for a few, being proprietary and all for now. Great news is they work, and work well on the GT350R. The GT500 will have some body modifications the fender and fender liner that will make it even better

2) No fitments on the GT500 yet, as none exist for the general public. However, we have some good relationships with industry partners and it has helped our cause greatly. The GT350R and GT500 will share may similarities

3) We can definitely design a square rotatable that will allow you to rotate the wheels and tires at all four corners. We do it now for many of our GT350/R customers that track frequently and need to mitigate the wear on their consumables

4) The concavity profile will likely remain the same, as the limiting factor of the GT350R and the GT500 are the rear brakes. We have seen other wheel companies make the front wheels more concave than the rear, and it is not a good aesthetic. With the 4-piston rear brakes, unique rear knuckle, and fender position the rear concavity is static. The front can accommodate more concavity than the rear, but you end up with that funky look.

We have a couple GT500 owners looking our way already after the work we have done with the GT350. Hope you see some of you gents more and time goes on.
