Anybody with a tq booster on their paxton/vortech setup? What are your experiences?

It's not a torque booster, it's a horsepower limiter. All you are doing is venting boost from the charge pipe so you limit how much top end boost and thus power you make. Here is a example, same pulley on both, the only difference is the wastage would be used to vent top end boost like you would be with a "torque booster"

You would have the same WHP and TRQ up until the waste gate opens to start venting your boost, at that point you would make less power than you would if you just ran the smaller pulley w/o the wastegate

I have it a TQ booster and its pissing me off. I understand how it works and I think it definitely increase my TQ and maybe horsepower. My TQ and HP numbers are pretty good but once it gets to 6900 rpms, it wastegates all the damn boost out and it'll drop from 12lbs to 9 smdh. I have a 18 intake and oil pump gears. I should be able to pull this shit to 7500rpm and keep pulling but instead it drops boost at 6900. I also have a e-boost controller. A form memeber told me to get a different solenoid but I dont want to spend another dollar on this thing and be disappointed so I'm going to just turn off the e boost controller off, put a 12lbs spring in the wastegate a hope it holds the boost all the way to 7500rpm

I whooped a procharger d1x ass same mods as me but he's auto. We did a 60 roll. I feel like my tq booster gave me the advantage

The whole point of a the torque booster is to run a way smaller pulley than would be safe in order to spin the blower faster, thus creating the boost in mid range. For example, if you want 12 psi maximum, use a 15 psi pulley and wastegate it to blow off anything over 12 so that you don't blow your shit up. Since the pulley is smaller, and the blower spins faster, now you can hit 12 psi at say 4k rpms for example, rather than 8k. Don't run a 12 psi pulley and wastegate it lower, that's just pointless.

Its doing what it's designed to do.

I had the torque booster installed on my previous Paxton car. With the standard pulley, It made 620/510. after the torque booster install it made 643/557...made a big difference ...

As others have noted, you will be limited at the top as boost bleeds off. I'm also wastegated at 12psi with an 18 manifold. I make good power until around 7200 then it drops. Works good for me as I shift at 7500 and not over spinning the blower. 747 hp/ 589 tq.

gen 2 motors can handle more boost then gen 1 so go 3.33 with no wastegate, should be around 800whp on a Paxton sl. it will take it with opg's and billet crank gears...

stupid question but I'm guessing you have a 12lbs spring in the wasgate? No boost controller?

I’ve had a wastegate on mine with a 3.33 pulley for about 3-4 months. Wish I would have done it from the start. Makes a huge difference. Even with 305 MT drag radials 1st and 2nd has traction issues, makes really good power/torque low in the rpm curve (as well as up too). A lot of people say a tune revision isn’t necessary but I would recommend it. My short trims were a little lean and the revision got it back where it needed to be. I wouldn’t mess with a boost controller, can be really hard to dial in and if it let goes you’ll really be rolling the dice. I use a 10lb spring in mine and it holds at 10 all day.
