I don’t see how it’s over priced.

Base price is 10k more than the gt350, and after market blower will cost 10k installed?

So you getting a 20k tranny for free.

Yeah Tom, I feel exactly the way you do. 10K for painted stripes( at least 4K too much)
$1000 for the carbon dash when the 350 is $500? why?
Other than that, all is good with me.
price point seems fair. a year ago I was saying low 90s for a loaded car and would have been if they didn't give the option of painted stripes.

The base car is not overpriced.
Just some of the options.

This. I figured the car would start at 70-75k.

The options are a bit ridiculously priced, but the core GT500 is a beast for its price.

So my dealer just called and said he has heard order banks are opening today July 1st at 4pm.

Any other confirmations?

I put my order in this morning around 11. He said he had to put it in the "old" way. I got a vehicle order confirmation.

School me on the "banks opening" bit. Does it take special financing?
No, it means that the dealer is able to send the order to Ford.

Thanks, that makes more sense....but it is deceptive to someone who has bought many new but never ordered.

I know this might be a dumb question, but can a rear seat be added to the track package option?

I get the shock about the price, but before we say Ford isnt hurting the segment, I would hold off. This gt500 is not the gt500 from 12 years ago. I think we are used to the price points from those cars. I haven't read much yet but what is the production run going to look like for this car. I imagine it won't be as high a run as gt350 because of the prices. I remember 2008 shelby KR at dealerships selling for over 100K and this car is way better. Hell, trucks average in 70K now and most are between 70K and 85K and still like fire. Gt350Rs sold out at over 100K markups. Most of these will be in the 80K range sold and select few will jump into full out carbon track pack optioned cars just like people did with 350. Everyone was up in arms about 350r 78K sticker until a year went by and you didn't hear much more complaining about, why? because they still sold out. I will say, starting at 70k? The base gt500 should be on par or better than 350r.
You mentioned the 2008 GT500KR and it's price point which was a lot for what the men and women at LV provided to us enthusiasts at the time for the 1723 cars that were sold to all of us over 2 years.

If I recall correctly the MSRP for a 2008/2009KR was ~$80,000 which was a ~$35,000 upcharge from SA and for all that you got a 40 HP increase, upgraded wheels, short throw shifter, 3.73 gears, aluminum hood and some interior graphics.

From a straight line performance standpoint a 2012 Boss 302 LS which had an MSRP of ~$48,000 had better performance numbers than the 2008/2009 KR's.

Just to put the KR's pricing in perspective ($80,000) compared to a well equipped 2020 GT500 CFTP at $96,000 is hard to comprehend especially when we take into consideration the outstanding performance numbers that will come out later this summer/fall with the launch of this brand new 2 seat Mustang.

Once the performance numbers for the 2020 GT500 CFTP car are released I will suggest that $96,000 for a well equipped CFTP will be a bargain compared to many of its competitors especially some of the HP automotive manufacturers from Germany and other parts of Europe.

That's one expensive son of a b. Curious to see how it actually performs at price. Though optioned out, ~100K the interior just isn't up to snuff.
