From my understanding drag radials on a manual is worse than a bias ply. With that in mind what bias ply are people using for street and strip on a daily driver? I had my sights set on just getting MT ET Street S/S but yeah radial and all.

I ran MT et street bias years ago. You will not like them driving on the street any more than just to the track and back. Even at full pressure they sway and follow bumps in the road. But yes bias is better for stick cars. Mine was a 5 spd new edge on nitrous. Low 1.5X 60's on a stock engine with a 150 shot stock 8.8".

You will definately not want to daily on them. Drive like ass, and will wear out quick.

Yeah, I have a buddy who has a c6 z06 manual that dailies on ET Street S/S radials and hasn't had a problem. He loves them and hasn't complained about sway or has had anything break. I'd like to just stick to one tire set up for street and strip, may just go with 888r's over a radial as I've only heard good things about them both in wet conditions and on the strip. I don't mind quick wear out just decent no breaking of my axle launches and alright wet road driveability.

Even a radial like the 888 will be quite hard on the driveline at the track, and will spin/wheel hop worse than a true drag radial. Two things tear stuff up. Driveline shock of a manual and a radial tire, and wheel hop. You will have to launch very soft, and shift very soft with boosted power.

Well shit just another reason why I should have gone with an A6 or a new A10. No easy street/strip tire.

Ya stick shifts and drag racing don't play well together without a ton of $$$. Fun on the streets, but not so much on the track.

Throw a set of full race slicks in the trunk. And bolt em on at The track. Slicks absorb some of the shock. That is generated at launch.

ET steet s/s are drag rardials, not bias ply. You can race manuals on drag radials, but you need to learn how to slip the clutch and not just dump it, its because drag radial dont recover like slicks do, they dead hook.

Care to give an example?
The only stick car up the leaderboard at all, blown + spraying nitrous. Unfortunately roush s500 didn’t go into details about the setup it took to get there.

@Jay-rod427 plenty of fast cars out there running on a stock MT82. So I don't get where the extra expense come in?

I really like my m&h drag radials on my car. Not the best at the track, but i am pretty consistently in the 10’s with them, and have probably 3k miles on them so far street driving. They do suck in the rain though. I ran fastest with slicks, and cannot stand the et-r bias.

Consider Nitto 555r too. Can hook with power and still not suck in the rain.
