I am thinking that we need to lead the entire forum to a real mountain drive.

We will meet at Dahlonega , GA. (where Hwy 400 ends,) and we hit the entry to The Six Gaps:

We start from the road to Helen, Ga into a very difficult section to Neels Gap and beyond to Welphen Gap back to Suches, GA.

Who is in?

I'm in once the Shelby arrives. The dealer estimates mid-July.
I have drove those roads in my last two Cobra's and the wife's 718... NO comparison.
Drove the Tail four times in the Cobra's, but not in the 718. That is in the future plans.
The Shelby exhaust note in the mountain twisties will be beautiful music... Ahhh, the Ford Philharmonic 32-Valve Orchestra.

I could bring a crew from NC, we would come in from the north. Maybe overnight in Hiawassee.

Was just out there a couple weeks ago. Six gap is great for these cars. I won't be back until June 15th.

If you're on facebook share it with the Georgia Shelby group.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/GeorgiaShelby/
I'm not on Facebook or ANY other social media sites... maybe I'm too old? When I was born, they were using Preparation "B".
I have know idea what they are up to now!

I will pass the request along to a participant who is on Facebook so we can post photos.
Everyone loves photos... especially event photos with lots of cars.
Thanks for the great idea and the link!

I'm hoping to get a group from NC together to head that way in late September/early October. What's the thoughts of putting together a 350 weekend in the area?

I would recommend an earlier date for a excellent experience. We must avoid the seasons change (leaf colors) to avoid the tourist folks that will make you crawl thru many of the best roads available. This would also be the slow Corvette cars.

Late August or early September is best.

I would say an extra day could be optional for those that want to make an early morning run through the "Tail of The Dragon".

The Shelby is not scheduled to be built until the week of 07-29-19 with and expected delivery of the first week of September.
I will have it garaged for several days getting the paint cleaned and sealed prior to driving it.
Going to the N. GA mountains during leaf color changing season is something I will not do again.
It looks like I will not be going until after the leaves have fallen.... Arrgh!

I wish I knew when my car will be here, but I doubt my dealer or Ford knows.

My plan is to immediately do the recommended break-in time while the engine cools and heats. I also need to understand the Voodoo engine (over the Coyote engine).

I'll follow that in a week with an easy run in the mountains. I am good with pictures.

Here is the old 2011 5.0 Coyote with it's MSRP sticker:

I can still drag this ill handling thing through the twisties while I wait for the GT350.

The handling is TERRIBLE with the whole engine-in-the-middle concept thingy... it's all neutral and lacks body roll.

I get it DP.

Yea, yea, I own one of the slow 991.1 3.4L NA cars:

The above car has driven with other 911 Carrera cars, and those Cayman cars. I think the Shelby Cobra GT350 has a big advantage in Hp and Torque coming out of any turn in the mountains. It is slow in and fast out.

Before my final opinion, the GT350 will win with a price that is half as much.

Taking the advice above, we are heading over 8/23 and plan to spend Saturday in the Six Gap/Helen area. Look forward to it.

Great, I'll get up there to meet up with ya'll unless the weather gets very wet and slippery.

I forgot to mention but this north area of GA sells real 93 octane gas (no ethanol at all). It's a little higher in price, but your car will like it. They post signs at the gas stations.

There are also several good restaurants in the area along with plenty of fast food joints (and two famous biker bars).

We hope to drive the Cherohala Skyway or the Dragon on our way into Hiawassee. Saturday is completely open for us. None of the NC guys have driven the area and would appreciate someone offering a meet point, lunch options, etc. Right now I have three confirmed 350's and most likely a 4th. Several other cars are in the "definite maybe" category.
