I removed the nut on my right side and it took the threads with it! Ridiculous
good to know. I'll take detailed pics before disassembling. Gonna piss me off if this turns into more of a shitshow than it already is.

Mine is leaking, but appears to be from around the band clamp. I don't see any tears otherwise. Unless DSS steps up, I'd steer clear.

PSA! I contacted DSS direct inquiring about how to remove the cv's to get the boots off since some are snap ring, some are retainer ring, etc. This is what they had to say.

"You can do it 2 ways, the easier way would be to take off the 115mm cv side and then slip with boot on the the axle bar and reassemble or you can take a chisel on the outer race (the part the bar slides into with splines) and smack it really hard with a dead blow. Just be sure not to hit the outer cage that surrounds the race and holds the ball bearings as it could crack if you hit it. I apologize for the troubles with your axles, we had a few sets leave here we had sent to beefcake that had the wrong clamps and they are causing the boots to rip"

It is ridiculous that they made the mistake (and admit to it) and yet they expect the end user to do this work and the car be down.

Anybody have a trick to get the half shaft back out of the diff housing? The stock ones were a bitch to get out too but I ended up just using the shaft itself as a slide hammer and they popped out. There was no prying that moved either side. I tried the same on the DSS shaft I am pulling to replace the boots knowing that I had to tear them apart anyway. No luck other than I pulled the inner cv apart on the DSS trying to pop it out. I rented one of the "Axle Popper" tools from autozone but it didn't do the trick either.

My stockers were not the just lightly pry on them kind.... Ended up with a prybar against the inner cv and a pretty good smack with a 5lb hand sledge. Couple whacks and rotate and smack again. Came right out that way, hopefully don't have to do that with the new ones, but prob will...

Next guy that gets replacement parts is going to have the nuts and clamps but no boots. What a clown show.
