Did someone say Base Model R club?
schnikeys that's beautiful...Did someone say Base Model R club?
You should edit the thread title to "base R thread" or something. You have been hijacked! However it is still a useful thread that hasn't been done before. You mean in post 1? The Race Red in that post is HR319 located in FTW TX. It is not a base. I have JR369 which is Shadow Black stripe delete and not a base either.
Thanks for the stats! Not to beat a dead horse here but my car (for whatever reason) has a VIN # chassis plate (G0089) like the 2015MY cars do as opposed to the regular number (GR015). Inquires into FP yielded nothing except "Hmmm, that's interesting. We'll get back to you..." Even more interesting/confusing is that I've come across GR014 and GR016 and their chassis plates are correct. The question I want answered most: "Is my car the only 2016 car with a VIN # chassis plate?"Absolutely love that color/stripe combination and a Base R model to boot.
Ford kind of went crazy with the assembly of 95 pre-production GT350/R's for the 2016MY as those numbers exceed any other model year by a great deal.
There were zero pre-production units built for the 2015MY but Ford did build 21 pre-production units for the 2017MY and another 21 pre-production units for the 2018MY.
I am sure that you are aware of these figures but if not Ford built 526 R's in 2016 with 64 of those cars being Base R's therefore your Base R is 1 of 64 cars.
Cool car for sure!
they screwed up on the line and made the wrong chasis plate. I would insist on a new (correct plate). They can be made. Dean Martin had a few made for one of his builds.
To be sure, whats your VIN? 1FATP is R model for your year
Oh yes, I agree. That does make your car special with a story. The R is in the VIN. If your VIN checks out, get the new chassis plate
I may request the plate but don't think I'd ever replace the original. Thanks for your insight. And sorry OP for hijacking your thread!

Here are some pictures of "PP001" a 2016 GT350R Pilot Production car.Really appreciate the insight, information and suggestions. I will keep trying to get a statement from FP as to what their take is on the car and update the forum accordingly.
i gotta say, that is the baddest, meanest, most drop dead gorgeous R color combo i have ever seen...Here are some pictures of "PP001" a 2016 GT350R Pilot Production car.
