Got my GT Premium PP2 with active valve, 401a, safe and sound, and the sound system!

Ordered 2/15, delivered 6/19

It’s been a blast. However, the wheels make a weird sound around 70mph and throws rocks at my paint like everyone has mentioned :p

That was the car and color that I ordered on 2/16 but Ford never indicated they would build. Finally had to give up and cancel the order. I picked up a Velocity Blue PP2 off a dealer lot and am very happy with it.

Picked up yesterday, have been learning to drive the 6 speed with a bit of troubles. I think I leave my foot at the engagement point for too long and start to put gas, because I definitely smell my clutch burning. A bit frustrating but overall I'm in love with the car and am so happy it is finally here!

It might not be the best car to learn how to drive a manual. Go buy a small beater or borrow one for a weekend.

Why do you say so? Was just out in a parking lot and got a lot better at taking off. What I thought was my clutch burning yesterday was actually just fumes from the exhaust I believe.

Do you say so because of the vague engagement point?

With all the power that the engine delivers, it's difficult to learn the good way to smoothly engage the clutch. As soon as you give it some gas pedal, if it's done too soon, the clutch wears itself. With a smaller engine, the clutch is lighter and engine doesn't try to roar everytime. And on a new car, the clutch must be taken with care. It's even writen in the owner's manual.

I don't see any special procedure to be taken with a new clutch in the manual. Just how to normally drive the car.

Don't feel bad, I've been driving mostly manual cars for the past 25 and the first time I test drove a 19 GT, I had a few shaky starts + a stall. The engagement window is the smallest I've experienced. Felt like a total noob trying to navigate my way out of the dealership.

FWIW, Steeda makes a replacement clutch assist spring (35 lb instead of the stock 185 lb) that makes the engagement point much easier to feel. Adds a bit more leg force to move the pedal, but not so much that it's a problem.

Around $25 with shipping, takes just a few minutes to put it in while lying in a very uncomfortable position under the steering wheel. Only tool needed is a needle-nose vice grip. Reasonable to reverse if you decide you don't like it (putting the original back would be noticeably more difficult than installing the replacement because of the higher spring pressure). One of the first things I did to my car, and I'm glad I did so.
