I've only ever seen rock/stone damage like that from a vehicle that tows a trailer behind on a gravel road and stones/rocks are propelled forward after coming off the front of the trailer!!

I agree! Very odd but that could be the case. I'm still not convinced it hasn't been happening on a transport truck though. These cars are (supposed to be) loaded back-first when transported to dealers.This is one of the wildest thing I have seen in awhile.
Paint chips on rear bumper? That takes some serious vacuum to turn a rock 180 degrees and make it hit the bumper with enough force to do damage it.
