What are you getting with your oil life monitors?

Even if your oil life monitor doesnt read low, you should still check your oil level every 1k miles IMO. Ive added about a quart in 4k miles to keep the level good.

I can't see the correlation of the oil life monitor (high/low) to checking your oil level on a regular basis?
You do know that the oil life monitor doesn't give you any indication of your oil level don't you?

I use my car as a weekend warrior very low mileage just like 3000 miles a year.
The life oil monitor tells me to change oil after getting close to the full year of usage.

Time on the clock seems to play a big part in the computation

Yes, but some people think that as long as the oil life monitor doesnt say oil change needed that they are fine and dont need to check the oil level. I would be pretty low on oil if I didnt add some. I hit 7500 rpm like 10 times a day though. I do wish we had a digital oil level guage.
