Did a google search and more on the 7.3 in a high zoot version of the Raptor, all within the last few days:

https://www.google.ca/amp/fordauthority.com/2019/06/ford-f-150-raptor-will-get-a-v8-exclusive/amp/

https://gearpatrol.com/2019/06/10/ford-f150-raptor-could-get-gt500-mustang-v8-power/

https://leftlanenews.com/ford/ford-f-150-raptor-to-get-back-v8/

https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.foxnews.com/auto/ford-may-turn-the-f-150-raptor-into-a-predator.amp

The takeaway first is that the 7.3 will make more power than the current 3.5 Ecoboost in the Raptor which I believe is 450 horsepower. Probably make more than the Coyote and turn out that 484ish horsepower speculation at least. This flies in the face of those like engineermike who said horsepower would be closer to 400, so it would appear that his speculation may be a bit off.

Basically a 500 horsepower 7.3 in the Mustang with 560 pound feet of torque starts to make sense for the swap. Even if Ford continues to go with the Voodo engine, at least we know the new 7.3 motor has some serious ponies in there!

My take on which motor? The Shelby motor was the designated engine back in March. Nobody was really thinking the Godzilla would make it in there after that. But now at this late date the rumor of the 7.3 is out there and Ford has not denied that possibility so far. If there was nothing to it Fox News would not run that rumour...

It is a shame Eric427 has left the building as after all the flack we had to take defending this engine, that may finally be substantiated and he isn’t here to enjoy it. I don’t expect the others to show up for some “humble pie” but he at least deserves this moment.

Oh well...
LOL......I'm always lurking in the shadows.
The Coyote is at the end of it's rope......

For the 7,300.00 time, that iron block Motor home engine IS NOT A PERFORMANCE oriented engine. It is built for heavy duty truck applications to tow shit, and has no place in a performance vehicle like the Mustang or Raptor. Ford isn't going to invest money into an engine because a couple of knuckleheads want to peel "oot" and go drag racing against F250's. Ford will probably use the 5.0 or 5.2 PERFORMANCE engines that already exist.

This is a Mustang forum, not a Raptor, F250, or stupid engine swap forum. So why don't you F250 dreamers make like horse shit and hit the dusty trail. The stupid engine swap forum is that way ---->.

So when a alloy version is made.......then what?

Honestly, the Mod Motor platform is proving to be very unreliable......
As we speak, the 7.3 team is vying for a place in the F-150.
If that happens? You can say bye bye to the Coyote......
Remember, the F-150 is what carries the Coyote.
Without the truck, there would not be one in the Stang.

So yea, a smaller displacement version of the Godzilla platform
could find it's way into the half ton truck.
This would leave either the 3.5TT as a possible option or they
utilize the Godzilla platform in one form or the other.

Or we end up with a hybrid four banger/electric.......

When Ford makes a High Performance Alloy version for the Mustang it will be acceptable to discuss it on a Mustang Forum. As of right now, the 7.3 is an iron block heavy duty F250 truck motor developed specifically for towing so stop making an ass out of yourself by talking about it on M6G.

Ford has multiple high performance engines and the 7.3 isn't one of them and never will be.

Right, because any talk of hotroding or non mustang engine motor swaps are expressly prohibited.

Let us to continue to not discuss any means of head, cam and intake swaps on any mustangs, as those items were not originally developed by FMC.

Let us also pretend that mustangs never had cast iron blocks from the factory, and insist that any cast iron engine would be suitable for nothing more than a boat anchor...because iron.

How's about a significantly shorter stroke and an OHC conversion of some sort???

Norm
Norm, we're getting stomped by the ls........those things are like maggots on a corpse.

The Coyote just isn't the go to engine of choice for the masses.

People tend to forget that this is not the 1950's.
Iron alloys have been developed....
Casting techniques have advanced.....

Now days you don't need as much iron as days gone by.

Nascar and Pro Stock (NHRA) still use iron blocks.

Wonder who would win. If the pro 7.3 swap guys took on the anti 7.3 swap guys in a dodge ball game? Or a knife fight? Hmmm. Anyway.
