I realize this question is somewhat counter-intuitive because a "305" should be a "305", but nonetheless, maybe someone can chime in and give me some info on this. Thanks. I know BFGs and GYs used to have a reputation for being a bit "wider" than their given size, but I have no idea what's what in that regard these days.

Google and search gave me results for the widest tire for a given rim. This is a different question.

Thanks.

Federal RSRR seem to run 10-20mm wider then advertised. I ran them on my last car and the 255ā€™s (was a bagged focus ST) had a thumb gap easy and after going to the RSRRā€™s I had to roll the fender more so it didnā€™t rub.

I have a PP2 - comes with 305/30/19s all around - I'd love to put 315/30/19 on the rears when the PSC2s give up, but there are practically no choices (except PSC2s - lol) and I don't want to put 325s on the rear. Looking for something not so track oriented - something street oriented like PSS or PCS4.

I'd say you already found your options then. Conti Extremecontact sport is another good one to look at.

What is your hangup with 325's? They work great on the 11" rim.
Personal Preference - I had 325s on my C6ZO6, but that was a 12 inch rim. 97.5 mm sidewall v 91.5 mm sidewall. Plus my OCD fuels my concern about seeking the lightest tire available as well. Perhaps that's trivial but this is the stuff that goes through my head when I have too much time to think.

OK - but of those choices (and really among all 305s), which one has the widest tread?

I'll check out the Conti's.

Tire compound is vastly more important than weight. However some tires offer both. If you don't car about mileage check out the Michelin cup 2. In the same size as my tires it weighs 6 lbs less and it sticks like glue.

Go on tire rack and you can look up tread widths of all the tires that your interested in.

No problem. Happy to help
My research revealed the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S has the widest tread width at 11.5 inches and second widest Section Width at 12.3 (Hankook Ventus has wider Section width at 12.6, but narrower tread width at 11.4).

This is from Tire Rack's site - Discount Tire Direct doesn't list tread width.

Ps4s is the best tire out there in the max summer category, but take another look at the Continental Extremecontact Sports, they are 95% the performance of the ps4s for about $50 less per tire. Which is why I went with them. Don't worry so much about width as the ventus will not be nearly as good as the ps4s unless you go to an ventus rs4 which is in their extreme performance category. What are your goals? What is your priority as far as what you want out of a tire? name the top 3 things.

I know youā€™re looking for at a 30 aspect ratio tire but Iā€™m running 305/35 MPSS on an 11ā€ wheel if you want me to take a quick measurement
