Gents,

I got it bad for a Gen 2 Raptor. The 19” work the new suspension is calling my name. I can get one at MSRP but the options I want are 71K. Really want to be in the mid-low 50k range.

I know more then a few of you have them. Talk me into it, talk me out of it, or sell me yours.

Just a word of advice and I am in the minority. I understand it. I have owned four Raptors. 2010, 2013, 2017 and a 2018. Although there were some very nice drive ability additions in the Gen 2, my 2013 was the truck I wish I never let get away. Your budget is in a late Gen 1. You can find (if patient) a nice 2013, 2014 for mid 50's. I would be extremely hard pressed to think you will find a Gen 2 for 50k, especially with all the options you want. In my humble opinion, the 2013, with the 6.2, Borla Exhaust and American Racing Headers, sounded like the the truck looks. Simply radical. Good luck and hope it works out for you!

I would look at the last gen with the V8. Or wait until Ford puts the V8 in the new Raptor if you can afford that. The V6 is just nasty sounding.

But if you don't care about engine sounds - maybe you can find a lightly used current generation to fit your budget better.

I think 19's are awesome. I got an 18 and kind of wish I coughed up more for the 19. The 18, although great in every which way, the transmission is driving me insane. It's such a harsh gear change that I feel like the tranny is broken. Feels like my 04 explorer with 200k miles.

I'm not that crazy about the whole v8 nor does it matter that much to me. I love the way gen2 looks and the 450hp is plenty.

If you can afford it, get it. They seem to be holding their value.

Good luck.

We have a 17 Raptor in Magnetic to match our 17 GT350 Magnetic and love it. Changed out the tires first thing to Geolander's. Rides better and terrific mileage. Better traction in the rain. Wouldn't change a thing!

I have seen 17 Raptors going for 50K here in S. FL. It's possible..but that is the 17. I would say look for those, and change the shocks out to the new setup perhaps ? There was a fully loaded Blue 17 with all the options, and it sold for 50k even. You may be hard pressed to find a 19 @ that price.

I love those raptors but I am very happy with my 5.0 16 Lariat. Has a Pro-comp 6inch lift, with the pre runners HD shocks, 325x20 35' tires, Outlaw exhaust and a few other goodies. Very capable off road. That is another option btw...

Both gens are incredible vehicles...Gen 1 still hold their value like crazy...I think the only thing i'd worry about is if they DO follow thru with the rumored GT500 engine that would really hurt the value of the 3.5s. I'd be pretty upset if i bought a 19 and then they make a V8 optional for 2020. Obviously you can't make a decision based on a rumor, but I do think if it was me it would be a consideration.

I could have a Shelby GT350, GT500 or a Raptor....but I couldn't afford a Mustang and a Truck of those prices. Better to have a Nice house, Nice Truck and a Nice Mustang IMO. But yes.....I want one and if you can afford it do it...only live once!

I too got the Raptor bug a while back, but decided to go the Super Duty route. I have a 5th-wheel that we use for long excursions.

Cost about the same if not more right?
Almost...I think! I paid $71K out the door for my '17 F350 Platinum. All the "bells and whistles" plus the 6.7L motor.
