The only issue with going to high a gear in a 6R80 car is it makes 1st gear useless because the ratio in that gear is so short. But for the OP I think it would make a more enjoyable driving experience to do 3.55s or 3.73s. Easier to swap in the whole differential pumpkin like I'm doing. But I'm doing it for the Torsen more than anything else.

Yes, it will. And a tune will raise your redline. The MotoIQ article from way back that did a breakfown of the Ford Performance PP1, PP2 and PP3 tunes - it showed that even the PP1 or PP2, which is just a tune only or tune and CAI/TB, benefited from revving to a bit past 7K because it gives the engine more power under the curve and by the time you shift to the next gear - you're right in the powerband again.

Honestly I think for what you're doing, keeping the stock manifold and getting a Lund 93 tune is just right for you. You won't regret it.
Got it, so I'm thinking gears and tune cai, sounds like things like lt headers and 2018 mani with add a benefit for top end only. F150 mani helps at the bottom but will kill my top end and that's were the engine shines is what you guys are telling me. I may have to do some spirited driving today and see if I'm ever close to 7k where the f150 fails and make a decision based off that.

Sounds like you live in the city, IMO I would go with as high (numerically) a gear as you're comfortable with.

Unless you're afraid of acceleration. And big smiles.
Yeah I know I need gears for sure, I find myself in sport mode alot to get decent acceleration.

I tend to agree with this. At least 3.55s maybe 3.73s. I'm planning to do 3.55s myself.
I'm seeing 3.55s are good for acceleration and decent gas mileage. And 3.73s are pure acceleration. It's a tough choice lol.

Personally I would forget the intake and get the gear swap done.

You won't be making any additional HP with a gear swap but the driving experience is radically altered in a way the intake can't touch in my experience.
Your also thinking there wouldn't be any benefit from the f150 mani?

Not enough to be worth the cost IMO.

Gears provide a lot of bang for the buck especially when coming from a 3.15. Moving to a 3.73 would make it a different car altogether.

If/when I move to a 4.10 it will have a change but not as big as the one you would see.

Do the F150 manifold and 3.73 gears and you'll probably be much happier with the car.

Personally I tried the F150 and the 18. I stuck with the 18. Even if I only get to rev over 6k a few times a month, it's worth it for the intense acceleration you get between 6-8k. The F150 did hit hard in the midrange though and the 18 cant do that.

Do whatever makes you happy. F150 manifolds are cheap enough, buy one and try it and see for yourself instead of taking everyone's word for it. That's what I did and I'm glad I went for it.

Kind of what I figured. Given the low rpm's with the current 3.73's the final drive on the trans must be ridiculously high. I can't imagine how low rpm's the guys with 3.15's must be running on the highway in sixth.
Honestly, you can't go wrong with 3.73s either. The 3.73 and 4.10s make up for the Coyote's lack of low-end power. With 4.10s, I can start off in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gear. With 3.15s in these cars, 6th gear isn't usable until 80 mph, especially if you drive where there are hills.

Nice I may just head that route of 3.73s as well. I'll do a lil more research before pulling the trigger

I appreciate your advice on this for sure. And you tried both and ultimately went with the 18 mani? That says a lot. Also with you getting the f150 mani and still was looking for more.

Lol well with an auto I'm sure the trans will do it's own thing.

Also the 2015-2017 F150 manifold does not require a tune to try. I'm with you on the 18 manifold though, the difference in pull above 5000 rpm makes it all worth it. If I'm getting on it/going WOT, it's going to at least 7k rpm. Otherwise in regular driving, it's part throttle and shifts at 3000-4000 usually.

Based on what it seems like hes looking for a F150 mani and 4.10 gears would be retarded fun with a max rpm of like 6500 LOL!!

Why the heck would you need a 4.10? Especially with the 6R80 gearing? Say goodbye to ever using 1st gear and say goodbye to any gas mileage.

I'm thinking if I do 3.73 gears I'd definitely go 18 mani and Lund tune.

Lol 4.10s are never on my radar. That sounds to snappy for me.

Lol my thoughts.

So even with a tune the f150 mani revs out at 6500k? Sheesh.
So its look like if I go f150 mani then I may only hear to 3.55 to 3.73 if I go 18 mani then I definitely will need 3.73. Tunes for both though. Kinda thinking the 18 mani and 3.73 would be the best of both worlds. A decent balance

It's really done at 6k. The power peak with the F150 manifold is at approx 5500-5700 rpm and it falls hard from there. The stock GT manifold peaks at 6700 and isn't pulling much beyond 7200. The '18 GT manifold makes peak at just over 7000, but doesn't fall much and continues to make strong power to 7500.

The '18 manifold doesn't need 3.73, but they pair well together. It feels pretty much the same as the stock manifold below 4000 rpm, and then as it approaches and goes past 5000, that's what it changes. It's fun as hell to rev out in 2nd and 3rd w/ my 3.31 rear end, but it'd be more fun (and less-arrest-me speeds) with 3.73.

I'm an idiot... I thought we were talking about the MT-82, not an auto. I was suggesting 3.73 or 4.10 for the M6. The auto is fine just the way it is in my opinion.

OP The way you describe your driving you will never “run out” at the top end. F150 is fine for DD. Imo its more fun stoplight to stoplight and theres never been a moment where i dont have enough to pass someone. I have played with plenty of other cars and the manifold doesnt seem to hold me back at all.

Same reason youd buy a small cube DOHC 5.0 coyote and handicap it by not letting it run to redline then asking for more performance.........LOL.

Cobra Jet Mani and glorious 8k rpm redline pulls is where its at!

To be fair, those two things aren't nearly the same lol. I don't argue with the performance aspect, but overall usability? This is a street car. No need to tank gas mileage even further and make one of your gears unusable (especially when the 6R80 has two overdrive gears anyway). 1st gear is already like a 4.10 with the 3.15 rear end. Even 3.73s would crazy in a 6R80 car. At that point all you have is 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears. Save 4.10s for the drag guys.

But I am not going to argue against the Cobra Jet and going to 8K!
