Factory front plate bracket

Specific question. My car had no front plate bracket in the trunk so when I picked it up the dealer grabbed another one out of another Mustang (I cannot recall if it was a Shelby or not). I can call the dealer Monday to clarify, but does anyone know if the Shelby front plate bracket is the same as the standard Mustang front plate bracket (same part number)?

The reason I'm asking is I am trying to come up with a way to use that bracket without drilling the bumper. (I live in a front plate required state and the local police here are aggressive about pulling people over who aren't running a front plate.). But the contour of the bracket I have is a very crude match to the contour of the bumper (Dremel might solve this but still). Thanks.

I have craigscustom bracket which sticks on. Some have had issues with it peeling off at some point, but mine has been fine. This is a similar method I had on my C6Z06.

Thanks Patrick. I've looked at that and other commercial solutions (all of which work) but I kind of like the challenge of figure something out on my own. My first idea was to use the factory bracket but the fit just stinks.

It wasn't hard if you order the right tool. Having a 7mm ratchet wrench is crucial to an easy install. I didn't have that, so it wasn't easy at all.

I looked at craigs custom bracket, went and bought 1 pc aluminum from home depot and some stainless steel bolts and nuts, and made my own , same concept

Hey guys, for people looking for a front plate solution. I was down near LA and I saw a car with what looked like a painted on or adhesive front plate.When I got home I did a little googling and found this. I figured somebody just made their own, but it's actually a legal solution.

Those particular ones are for CA. On some other car forums guys who ordered them said they came with a letter from the CA DMV stating they were legal. There are other sites that will make them for other states. I found this place that will do it for pretty much any state. http://customlicenseplates.us/ Legality depends on your particular state. IANAL, but it appears that in some states these are totally legal, and in others it could be interpreted as an illegal counterfeit plate, potentially a felony.
