I have a 2016 GT350 technology pack with the base six speaker stereo. It has navigation and Sirius satellite radio, but lacks HD radio. Noticed my wife’s 16 GT premium has HD radio and it sounds pretty good for a factory radio. Can I upgrade the OEM base head unit to the premium head unit to get HD? Thanks in advance.

I think you replied to my other thread, I updated. But by swapping ACM's you will have to call Sirius and give them the updated ASIN or whatever that number is they use as the new ACM has a different number, basically a radio serial number. Not a biggie, just takes 5 minutes on phone. tell them you swapped radio modules. Like two phones are different numbers, same thing

Install the HD radio (only sounds better on HD signals which I have a ton around me and often when I travel) also disable the factory EQ man and I bet you'll be happy, at least try the factory EQ disable, if you dont like it, change the number back to what it was.

No need to do anything other than swap ACM with an HD acm. That gives you HD radio not the headunit/system etc..

Was 100% worth it to me.

Thank you for the response. Where did you source the ACM from? Dead donor stang (junkyard) with that option, or ordered from Ford? Thanks.

That’s my link, just click on the link, click on seller and give them a call. Ask for an radio with HD signature on back, also I think it should end in -MJ on the number if I recall.

There’s like 3 or 4 acm’s but the HD has it all, satellite hd etc.

There’s a satellite version that doesn’t have HD which is what my car had stock.

I don’t see why your car would need a year specific I bet 15+ would work.

Thanks. Yes my car had satellite but no HD, my wife’s 16 GT has both. But she has a premium package and I have a crummy shelby cheap ass stereo, haha

Idk. But you’ll have hd radio atations, disable the eq and may make sound pretty fair on regular stations too.

I listen to hd daily, and sounds 10x better than non hd stations

I wasn't sure if the base model, non-SYNC3 radio had the same type of ACM as the SYNC3 does. With SYNC3, I knew it was just an ACM swap. Is that still the case with a base model radio?

Very good point!

I don’t know. I can only state what I did, was swap acm and enable hd forescan codes.

Can you repost the link please? It isn't in the earlier post that I could find. Thank You!

Anyone think that an acm from a 2013 explorer will work in my 2019 (w/9 spkr)? I bought one with this tag on it, with the idea of gaining HD radio. The case and plugs look exactly the same though the brackets will need to be changed.

Haven't tried this yet. To use the CD player I'll need a new bezel. Apparently in 2019 if you don't have the Shaker system you don't get a CD player or HD radio. So with my 9 speaker premium system just to gain HD radio will I need to reprogram using forscan? I've seen several replies that say no programming is needed and others say it is?

Don’t know. Either will or won’t
Takes 3 minutes if does

The case is a little different on this unit. Not quite as tall but maybe a centimeter longer. For some reason it just wouldn't go into place. Decided to wait on a Mustang unit.
