Looking for thoughts on which tires to run in the rain on short tight autocross course. Currently have the following options mounted and ready to go: 275 RE71r's, 255 stock Pirelli summer tires, 235 stock Pirelli all seasons. Temps will be in the 60's. Also starting PSI's would also be helpful. Won't be able to chalk the tires in the rain.

Temps in the 60s and not too much standing water, just run the RE71Rs. You won't get them warm enough as you'd like but they grip well in wet conditions, as long as its not overly cold and they aren't hydroplaning.

Temps closer to 40 degrees and some of the better summer tires will work well for you (possibly some all-seasons, but a lot of those aren't great unless its really too cold for the summer tires).

If standing water, then some of the summer tires with full tread will work better than RE71Rs because they will not hydroplane as easily.

So if in doubt, just run the RE71Rs. If you KNOW its going to be overly cold then maybe run an all season. Or if its warm, but lots of deep water, then look at running a summer tire.

MP4S is the king in warm or cool conditions with standing water, FWIW. The PZeros won't be as good, so again, if in doubt... RE71R.

Thank you.

Starting tire pressure for these conditions with the re71r's? Thinking 36 front 33 rear.

Well the starting temp should be pretty close to your target hot temp if its wet.

As for pressure, you’re on your own, I never ran in the wet enough to get a bead on a good pressure. Less grip = less sidewall rollover. 36 seems high to me, but no data to back it up.
