I've only driven the Conti's on autocross and to the gas station but from what I can tell they're definitely more DD friendly than MPSS's. Conti's usually are one of the better street oriented tires. As far as ground clearance, you're losing about 9mm in the rear and 12 in the front TOTAL DIAMETER. Frankly, I feel like that's small potatoes considering how low the car already is particularly for a factory pony car. An incorrectly inflated 295/35 could make that negligible. If you're concerned about the street, run high 30's - 40 PSI.
Hey funny you mention that, I was going to post and ask.. the doorjamb temps say 32psi cold front and rear, from the dealership (factory?) the car came with 39 psi cold.. wasn't sure if the doorjamb temps were correct or if recommended is higher. I'm definitely having clearance issues, and it's not like I live up in the mountains, this is on Ventura blvd in Los Angeles, and friend's driveways in tract homes.. so sounds like I'll continue to run them a bit high. (edit: on the cup sport 2's currently)

Hi Guys,
now that the snow has finally melted in my area of Canada I am looking to pull the trigger on some street tires. I would like to thank EF300 for his recommendation of the Hankook Ventus V12 evo2 305 30 r19.

Currently I am deciding between the Hankooks or the Firestones in the below size. The firestones in my area seem to be the favourate value performance tire. My question for mustang6G is if running a narrower front tire as below would cause issues on the street? They don't have a 295 tire but they do have a 285/30 and a 285/35 tire. Note that rears can only be had in 325/35. Would is be worthwhile to match the sidewall ratio front to rear?

Firestone Firehawk Indy 500
Front
stock (295/35R19) VS 285/35R19
Sidewall 4.1" 3.9"
Width 11.6" 11.2"
Diameter 27.1" 26.9"

Back:
stock (305/35R19) VS 325/30R19
Sidewall 4.2" vs 3.8"
Width 12" vs 12.8"
Diameter 27.4" vs 26.7"
I am interested in this firehawk setup, what i read about, they are good tires

39 is too high, they have most likely been inflated to correct temp at factory god knows how many degrees below zero, and now as it warmed up outside, it's went up. I monitor my tire pressure at least every 2 weeks, more often on sudden temp changes.

See my tires above at 12k miles, stock factory alignment, 4 track days. I run 28 on the track, and 32 in the city.

which brand tires are they?
OEM Michelin Pilot Super Sports , came with the car... Now 2 track days were in soaking wet flooded track, so they don't count like real summer track days, but still....

So with more thought, my plan is to go with the Continental ExtremeContact Sport in 305/30ZR19 at all four corners. Price seems right and I don't mix sidewall ratios. I will report back when they arrive.

Hi guys I want to run Michelin PS4S 295/35R19 squared for street driving, has anyone done this? is 295s on 11in rim too much of a stretch? I want to retain the stock ground clearance, I'm barely clearing my driveway ramp... stock Cup2s are little tricky in the rain and I want to keep them for future track days.

I'd rather run 305/35's all around. I mean yes you can but I feel like that's a bit much. however I get the predicament that 305/35-19 is basically non existent now since the MPSS's are out of production.

Right but PS4S doesn't come with 305/35s, if they do I would get the stock sizes. That's why I am thinking to step down the rear end to 295s, it's tiny bit of traction loss, but I won't push it that hard on the street.

Exactly.

As far as the streets, you're going to be more than fine. Technically if you look at the specs for the tire, an 11" wheel is acceptable.

I'm running these. About 6,000 miles on them so far. ZERO regrets. I am not taking anything away from a Michelin tire, but they are not the end-all-be-all only option tire for this car. And IMO, the Conti looks significantly better. Just my opinion, but I can't stand the looks and profile of the new PS4. It runs waay too big. The 325/30 Conti fits much much closer to the 315/30 SC2's. Here's my 325/30 on a 11.5" wheel. Not the best pics in the world, but gives you a good idea of the sidewall stretch and shape. Not too wide and squared off like the Michelin 325.

Bridgestone and Michelin definitely have interesting definitions of what a millimeter is that's for sure lol. 325 Pilot Super Sport is 325mm? lol. Yeah okay...

Exactly. They'd be fine if you had a 12"+ wheel, but....
