Hello all,

I recently put on some Kooks LTH with cats and an x pipe. prior to that i had just a cat back system on. the x pipe install basically replaced the muffler for the cat back so now its essentially straight pipes, and it's LOUD as hell. doesn't bother me but i'm sure i'm going to get pulled over. what options do I have to quite it down some, install mufflers/resonators after the x pipe?
thanks

This type of thread is more common than you think. Open x-piped coyotes sound like shit imo. Had to listen to one the other day about 3 cars ahead of me. Johnny ricer wanted everyone to know he had loud exhaust...

Two bottle resonators made a difference and took the edge off. If you want to go quiet the magnaflow resonated x is a good option but I think it removes too much sound. I had two 12” resonators welded onto my h pipe and it came out really good.

Omg I removed all the sources of sound attenuation and now my exhaust is unbearably loud!

Change to a quieter catback or axleback and/or add inline resonators (as long will fit) to tone it down. Add short resonators where the cats would go, and add longer ones between the X and the mufflers somewhere.

How did an X-Pipe replace mufflers on a catback? That doesn't make sense. What happened to the axleback?

Maybe he meant the "suitcase" resonator?

X-Pipe should be changing your resonator and a H-Pipe sounds better and it is a little quieter. Aftermarket headers especially Kooks will generally make your car sound loud as hell you should of expected that.

Magnaflow has a Tru X resonated X pipe that is distributed exclusively through CJ Pony Parts. It’s a 2.25” ID and a 2.5” OD though so if you’re running a 3” Exhaust, it’s not going to help you. If you have a 2.5 it might be what you need to calm down those headers.

Vibrant 1794 resonators toned down my ARH LTH into Corsa Xtreme setup. Could work for you. But wheres the axleback/mufflers of any kind ? Losing that aspect also changes your setup.

I have kooks catless long tubes and the varex x-force valved exhaust. Close the valves, which are in the mufflers and it's barely louder than stock. Open them and its straight through LOUD. The varex has a small mid muffler with built in x pipe. I had corsa sports before and while I loved the sound, it was way to loud for my neighborhood.

This is why I ditched the Xtreme for the Sport (on stock headers/cats).
