Went to an 1/8th mile track today in my 2019 GT PP A10 with 800 miles on the odometer.
Turned advanced traction off, D on the shifter, and drag strip mode.
64*F, 38% Humidity.
Launching at 1200 RPMs off the foot brake.

2.16 60'
8.41
90.12MPH

The car felt like it was bogging out when it started to shift and would severely shudder. I was really hoping to see a 8.2 @ 92MPH at least, but seems like it wasn't in the bucket today. Any suggestions?

Was the shudder wheel hop or engine misfire? On a few occasions, when my car had very few miles on in, it would hit the rev limiter just prior to the shift. My theory was that the engine was revving up more quickly than the transmission could shift. With additional miles on the car, I haven't had the problem. Wheel hop can be a problem in drag mode when running stock suspension and tires. Your Michelins are pretty good but you might have been experiencing wheel hop.

The car with those tires can handle an 1800 or 2000 launch so if you have the taller gearing it will bog launching at 1200, you're leaving almost 3 tenths in the 60ft alone, the shudder going from 1 to 2 is harsh but the car does run its best eighth or quarter using Drag Mode. If you can next time, powerbrake it to 1800 and try that, (if it handles 1800 easily then try 2000) let her eat the whole way shudder and all. She should shift around 7600/7700 even though it will look like 7800 as she bangs off the gear.

In that weather (not sure of the DA) the car should easily go 12.1 or 12.0, other have broken into the 11'9's and some have hit 11'8's but stock the best mine has done is a 12.0, the average is around 12.1 to 12.2, in fact I could bracket race the car it's so consistent weather be damned even hot lapping.

Good to know. I'll try giving it a bit more on the launch next time and hope it makes up for it. I had a feeling the issue was in the 60'.

I have parts sitting in my garage that I'm waiting to install because I wanted a good base line, but I don't see a point in waiting.

SKyZ, you mentioned severe shudder. If you are talking about wheel hop, you need to get that under control. If not, you will break an axle or worse.

Yes, you can launch harder and improve your times. You should easily be in the 7s in the 1/8. However, if the issue on the shift is as severe as you say, that is also hurting you.

Thanks for the help brucelinc.

I completely agree and think the shuddering is wheel hop when the car is shifting. I have a few BMR components that will be installed on the vehicle before the next trip to the track (BK051, CB762, and CB005). I would like to greatly reduce wheel hop while on the stock wheels/tires before moving towards a drag tire. I'm really trying to avoid any broken parts.

My previous Mustang was a 2015 MT-82 PP and it reacted much different than this vehicle. During a burnout, the A10 does not bounce like the MT-82 did, however I did not have the same issue that I have described in this post.

It goes against general belief but I've ran my best 1/4 and 1/2 mile passes with all the nannies on in drive/drag mode. My car is stock tire/suspension also. My best 60ft so far is 1.7 but it knocks the tires off shifting to second.

I would have thought your time would have been a lot quicker. I ran [email protected] mph. My 60ft time was 2.03

My slowest time were in drag mode. I had traction issues. That run and 2 that backed it up were in D sport mode and leaving at around 1300 rpms.
