Based on this thread and similar FB posts I thought it came out at some point in 2017 production. I dont really care too much but I would like to get a read so I can let the community know what was changed, and also see If I should try similar on my whipple calibration.

Incidentally if someone had a read of the f150 calibration for 2018+ that fixed the timing chain chatter it would be interesting.

I have never heard piston slap in my 2017. Late build
I have an 08/17 car. Mine started just north of 3,000 miles like literally out of the blue one day. Literally like someone just flipped a switch to turn it on. Craziest thing ever. It's not horrible and nothing else changed, but it's there. The thing that finally put my mind at ease was TrackAttack. I got to drive two different cars that day and mine sounded just like those cars.

I don't recall if it was earlier in this thread or not, but I saw the TSB was dated Sep '17, and called out cars manufactured on or before something June '17. I'm wondering if I took my Aug car to the dealer if they'd hook it up and check for updates, or just turn me away and tell me the TSB doesn't apply.

I too have an 8/17 car and am wondering the same exact thing.

Did you just call the dealer and made an appointment complaining about the exhaust flap sticking ?
This TSB has been out for some time. How did this go from a TSB for sticking exhaust solenoid bypass for drive modes to improved low end and reduced piston slap? WHT! LOL

I called the dealer and they said they will not be able to do anything unless something is wrong with the car, so no update for me for now... I am out of warranty in 2 weeks so I suppose I will just live with "old" software :)

Oh come on torque...I remember just the other day you were complaining about your valves randomly sticking ;) Don't you remember that?

I hear you, but they will need to see errors in computer memory or lights on dash to do anything; of which I have none :)
I made an appointment none the less, I will take it in, we'll see what happens; but I am not very optimistic...

To provide some insight for those with later build 2017s. A member of the community ran my VIN (9/17 build) to check for PCM updates and found that no updates are available. He said either there isn't an update because we have the latest calibration or that the update for late 2017s is not available yet.

Disconnect the battery so all codes are cleared and tell them your battery went dead, and then you charged it up.

I wonder if the latest ecu software coincides with the change over to the cartridge style oil filter, which was fitted to later-build '17's. My 07/17 build has the cartridge filter.

That was changed around spring of 2017 IIRC.

That's not how it works.

The TSB is clear and concise. Has nothnot to due with engine performance.
