If you have a voltmeter check before you tap into them.

Attach a paper pin on the end of the radar detectors wires and insert it into the mirror and turn on and off the car see if it works.

I have the Uniden R3 which works well. I like the speed alert although i would prefer if the speed alert was relative to the posted speed limit similar to Waze. The Waze alert is easy to ignore. I haven't found another Android app that will do what I want.

that's very helpful, the last diagram is what is most needed. I did it a few weeks back and posted a video already though but this should help people going forward.
Yeah I thought surely you had already figured it out since your last post. This topic resurfaces on here from time to time.

I know they're probably more expensive than they should be, but I've never regretted my Blend Mount/Mirror Tap purchase.

I had a best buy gift card that I got as a gift for $500 and decided to buy the R7 to upgrade from my R3 because of the arrow feature. That was 3 weeks ago and now I changed my mind. Sure is nice to have the arrows and few other things but the R3 is still a bad ass detector.

I rather sell the new R7 for more money than a used R3. Plus I can use the money towards some upgrades on the car.

I've been using the same old Passport 8500 for the past decade and don't even know where to begin on a new radar detector, but it still works and I know all it's quirks and behavior like it has it's own personality lol.
