Here's info from Steeda's site, and thank you to Steeda for the descriptions:

"H-PIPES
Available in 304 stainless, 409 stainless, and aluminized steel an H-pipe will produce a traditional deep American muscle car tone and produce best torque in lower RPM ranges.
X-PIPES
Available in 304 stainless, 409 stainless, and aluminized steel an X-pipe will produce a louder somewhat raspy modern American muscle car tone and produce best horsepower in higher RPM ranges."

Lot's of good info about sound, tone, and install but has anyone noticed any drone with an H pipe? I've got my Steeda H-pipe ready to install on my active exhaust 19 but have been wondering about that last piece?
I have the AWE track edition with H-pipe it has a little bit of drone at 2000rpms. But not something that bothers me.

Joe Marino from Steeda is very helpful and a good source of info.

Also, here is a great review :)

Review: That’s the way one person explained to me after hearing it! I have Roush axle backs and this didn’t do it was gonna order Corsa Extreme. No need sounds beautiful... no more drone than axle backs alone (little to none). Open her up and my gawd! Sounds a cross between old school muscle and new school exotic. If you like the axlebacks but wished it would scream and growl more when you get on it. Perfect answer. 110% satisfied. Thought because of amazing price it would be sub par. Beautifully made and top quality. Either Steeda giving them away or others overcharging. Buy this!

I have the Shifteck H-pipe and there is zero drone.

This whole idea of X pipes cause "rasp" needs to end. If anything, X pipes actually counter act the concept of what "rasp" might be.

Take a 350 Chevy, long tubes, true duals with no crossover, and bullet or glass pack type mufflers. THAT is rasp. Roush axle backs on an S197 Coyote car, THAT is rasp.

X pipes tend to produce more of a howl or a whaling sound. H pipes tend to make more of a boomier and deeper thud sound and actually is closer to true duals at higher RPM than not because the exhaust is moving so fast passed the crossover not as much scavanging happens vs an X pipe.
