west coast'er here, at the moment anyways. i'm from Canada, and in Vancouver, BC gas has hit $5/gallon

I live about 20 mins south of Seattle, and pay up to $3.90/gallon for 92. though if you buy your groceries at Safeway and pick a gas station that accepts their points card, can usually knock 40 - 50 cents a gallon off of that. 93 is not available at all

Gas pretty much costs the same for most of the continental US. The biggest difference is taxes. The next is cost to transport but only a few states pay anything significant. In NJ I can get 93 for under 3 almost everywhere. Here is a link for current taxes by state. http://www.southcarolinagasprices.com/Tax_Info.aspx

Remember this, CA has the huge cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles. The rest are rural and suburbs. If you look, rest of California are pretty 50/50 if not conservative leaning.

Same with New York. NYC dictates the entire state. To bad we can’t separate NYC from NYS.

NYC is less than 1/2 the NY population, blame the other 1/2 of the population for not showing up to the polls.

The difference in a few dollars in gas price is really negligble.
Lets say you drive 10k miles a year in your stang. For the sake of argument we will use 15mpg as the average.
10,000 / 15mpg = 666.6 (LOL) x $3gal = $2,000yr
x $5gal = $3,333yr

So the difference is only $1333 for the year if the gas price rose $2. Divide that by 12mos and you only pay $111 more monthy.

66% increase is not negligible. 25% is also not negligible. That is a substantial price difference. I get what your saying in that over a year it is not much at 10k miles (to some its not much, to some families 100-200 dollars a month is a lot of money)

I'd also guess most people drive more than 10K miles a year.

I've seen it go up about about 85 cents per gallon in the last 2-3 months or so. Was around $3.45, now it's been around $4.30. Even that is a 25% difference.

If you cant afford $110 more a month for a short period of time (Being prices always rise in spring/summer and decline in the fall/winter) than you should not be driving a $20,000 sports car with crap mileage and large car payment to boot. That is living beyond your means.
However, alot of folks do not see it that way.

I agree with what big is trying to say. If you can't afford a couple thousand more a year in fuel you should probably get a different car. With that said, anytime you have to pay more for something that is less elsewhere is not great or fun to deal with.

$2.41 for Costco 87 and $2.76 for Costco 91 here in KC, and I've been bitchin' about that.
I stopped to fill up my company truck this morning at the Conoco at 103rd & State Line. Check the price in the pump below.

Yup, 2.40 for 91. I have no idea if it's still that was, but if you're in the that area, worth a shot.

You guys make me laugh, your gas is so cheap. In the UK it calculates to about $8 to a US gallon.

Just speaking in general terms. I get we're on a mustang forum, but it's a general thread really. Your example of a 66% price difference and describing it as "negligible" just seemed odd to me. Negligible it is not.

I can afford the increase, but i can also understand the pain. There are a lot of hard working people in California who make a lot less than me, i can understand their frustration.

Of course I'm going to keep pumping gas into my tank. Look at the price and sigh, and smile while I drive. I would rather it be a $35 dollar fill up than a 60 dollar fill up, call me crazy.

Lived in cali my entire life, and will probably always complain how we have some of the highest fuel prices, yet there are 5 refineries within spitting distance of where I live. I can live in California, and think the regulations and taxes that make our fuel prices so high are BS, i certainly didn't have a say in it. I also hate the annoying "vapor recovery" things they put on the fuel nozzles, lol. Always a treat going to Nevada and seeing the straight pipe that easily sits inside the fuel inlet.
