Nothing was changed. My guess is this document was written in 2017. The 2018s still have piston slap.

Mine was too until about 800 miles. It's now there as described by Ford, exactly. And it goes away once oil temp is above 170. It's a by-product of using stronger forged pistons. No harm, no foul, and nothing to worry about.

Add my 2017 GT350R to the number of cars that is getting a new motor. What a pain in the ass. Burning a quart about every three-hundred miles. On the upside, there have been so many of these that the 'qualify for motor replacement' testing is pretty short. If you can show Ford you're burning a quart of oil at 499 miles, you probably can get a replacement. On the update, this is a car that gets run hard. I put 6,500 miles on the odometer, so I'm starting from 0 one again.

Sorry to hear about your trouble @Kevin Tinto . Did you intend to post this in the Blown Engine Thread?

Good Luck with the replacement!!!

Moved things around a bit and found some broken links, please let me know if you find any.

Also added links to Production Number threads.

Looking for someone to post up 2018 Production Numbers.....

Thanks.

SSM 45903 - 2015-2017 Shelby GT350 And GT350R Brake Service
2015-2017 Shelby GT350 and GT350R vehicles should not have the brake rotors machined when servicing the brake system. Replacement of brake rotors is the only acceptable service of brake rotors on GT350 and GT350R vehicles. GT350 and GT350Rvehicles are equipped with a brake system designed for high speed and superior fade resistance. Occasional brake squeal and elevated levels of brake dust may occur. This is normal and does not affect brake system performance. Refer to the Workshop Manual Section 206-00 and the Mustang Owner's Manual and the Shelby GT350 Owner's Manual Supplement for further information.

I am about to take delivery of an ‘18 this week. I have read about the excessive oil consumption issues. Will my car tell me when I am low on oil? Or will I need to keep checking manually. Just curious...

Congrats on the '18 GT350 Scott!

It won't tell you it's low on oil. You need to manually check it.

Welcome! What color?

Unfortunately, as said already, it won't tell you oil level. My 20 year old 996 will, but not this brand new, electronics laden, tech package, magna ride Ford won't! It'll tell you how hot the oil is, how much PSI it has, as well as every other fluid in the car except maybe the washer fluid! lol

But no, apparently, oil level in a race car is too much to ask.

I personally check mine as part of my pre-flight list. But I only drive it for fun and also keep a battery tender on it, so I'm already under the hood (after I remove the car cover!)

Does the oil consumption issue usually show up really early or later on?

1200 miles did 1st oil change and not a drop missing, I feel like break in went well and I should be good ?
