I'm looking for input regarding the MT Drag Radial R in 275/40-17 for naturally aspirated applications. Specifically on an 18-19 A10 PP1 equipped GT. First time at track bone stock I ran a 12.36@117mph with pretty bad wheel hop on the 1-2 shift. I've since added BMR CB005, Steeda alignment kit made for the CB005 and BMR's subframe bushing inserts. The bushing inserts are coming out due to what I feel is extreme gear noise at cruising speeds. I'm adding the CB762 along with BMR's poly vertical links. I'm hoping with the right tire I can eliminate my wheel hop issues and get the car well into the mid-high 11's with stock tune. Only mods being suspension and tires. I would like to hear from anyone with experience with this specific size MT offering versus the 305mm 28" tire. Pro's, cons and personal experience welcomed. Thanks!

i think it depends on power output. i prefer the 28" tire. i think 26 is too short unless you a 3.15

I have MT ET street R tires in 275/40-17. They stick like glue. I had hellacious wheel hop with street tires on the 1-2 shift even though I had the CB005 kit. The Mickeys solved the wheel hop 100%.

My car is stock and the best time so far is 11.89 with the Mickeys. The car is an A10 with 3.55 gear. I was a bit worried about breaking an axle since the car hooked so well. For that reason, I didn't launch it super aggressively. I have now upgraded the driver's side axle so I think I can improve my times with a harder launch.

I prefer the 26 inch tire because it gives me an effective gear of around 3.70. If I was planning on substantial power increases, I may have gone to a 28 inch. However, with a little heat in the 275 tires, they hook incredibly well.

Thanks for the input, what tire pressures have you found to work best in them?

That is a good question. I didn't get the tires until the last 2 events of the season and since it was so busy, I only got in a total of 6 or 7 runs with them. That didn't really give me the opportunity to experiment much. I think they recommend around 16-18 PSI. I started with 22 PSI and they hooked so well that I didn't lower them. I was in the 11s on every run and was so happy to not have wheel hop, that I just left them alone. When I go back to the track in May, I will find the sweet spot for pressure and the sweet spot for launch procedure.

What is your rear wheel width? 9" or 10"?

I have the same set up at above on my stock 19 a10. The car has 3.55's & I opted for the budget friendly 17x9 Bullitts with 275/40 MT dr's. I have only been out once on them but they work great. It ran a 12.08 at 117(not drag mode equipped) in +1000 da. I am happy so far with them

We took my brothers 18 A10 to the track for the first time on my 305/45 17 SS. It is bone stock and went 11.89@117. He then found a killer deal on some 19x10 wheels with 285/35 19 SS on them. Next time out 11.75@119. It has 3.55 gears and is still bone stock. We were running both @19psi. I’m not sure of his 60ft, but I know it was better on the shorter tire

I have seen many cases at my tracks where guys with stock engines or even minor mods go slower with a 28 inch tire. There is a video around here somewhere from American Muscle where they did comparisons of stock, 93 tuned, E85 tuned, and DRs. They used a 28 inch DR and ran slower than on street tires when stock.
