Good morning,

Looking at changing my front tires as they're just an awful size. I have 275/40/19 Indy 500s in the back, is there any sense in choosing the 255/40/19 over the 265/40/19? The 265 is 0.4" wider and the sidewall is 0.2" taller.

I'm not lowered and no spacers or anything (base GT) - so what do you think would look the best to fill the wells a little bit, the 265?

On the PP1 rims FWIW

Thank you

Other than the cost difference there is no reason not too. Only reason I don't go with 265's is cause they are about $40 to $50 more per tire for just 10 mm

Complicating matters is that there's only a $6 difference in the price of the 265 vs 255 through Firestone.

I suppose you could go with 255/45/19 if wheel gap is the main priority. They'd be .3" greater in diameter than the rears, though.

I was talking about a different tire. If it's that little of a difference I say go for it

265/40 is generally a nice fit on a 9" wheel. I'd go for it.

The rim width allowance for 265/40/19 is 9-10.5".

I've heard guys going with 265/40/19 on 19x10 wheels for a slight stretched look. Yet unlike the PP1 setup, they can be rotated. Sort of like a good DD version of PP1 with rotatable wheels that still provide adequate performance.

The Porsche Cayman comes stock with this setup for the rear wheels. Though I have yet to see 19x10's with 265/40's on a Mustang.

Sounds good to me!

Thanks all
Also Indy 500s tend to run a tad narrow compared to some summer tires so it'll fit closer to how a 255 from say, Michelin/Conti, would on a 9".
