Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone with a newer radar detector such as the Uniden R3 have had any issues with BLIS causing false alerts on your detectors? I did a search and most of the threads are older and BMS filtering has gotten quite good over the past couple years. Any info is appreciated!

Thanks!

I've got both the Uniden R3 and 1st gen Escort Max360. They both false alert K band on BLIS cars. They have greatly improved with firmware updates over the last year. It still happens. I basically only pay attention to KA Band as that's almost exclusively police radar, at least where I'm using them. K and goes off with speed signs some automatic door openers (e.g. stores) and BLIS.

This forum https://www.rdforum.org/index.php was pretty good when I was in the market to purchase. I have it hanging just below the rearview mirror from the mirror post. It's pretty unobtrusive. I've tried powering off the rear view mirror but eventually just hardwired to the fuse box as the wires kept coming loose when shoved into back of mirror.

Radar detectors can be annoying at times due to false alerts. The GPS filtering helps automagically block stationary locations (speed signs) and you can manually block. Waze is probably a better defense if you have it running and active users where you're at. It might not help on rural highways with limited traffic. Waze plus a radar detector is the best defense (excluding just going the speed limit). If you get hit with Laser or are the first to get hit with instant on you're getting a ticket. Just my opinion, your mileage may vary.

Uniden R7 started delivering yesterday. It's looking like a game changer for those that like filtering, frequency and arrows. It's kind of expensive though.

Current model Valentine One has no problem with false alerts in my BLIS equipped Mustang. I run my V1 in the most sensitive mode too - A mode (all bogeys)

UnidenR3, no issues with my Mustang with BSM causing falses. There are a few cars known to false the R3, Mazda CX-5, Acuras and for me the big GMC Tahoe (whatever it is called). Otherwise fairly quite.

Back in the old days, I ran Valentine One radar detectors on both of my NSXs.

For the new Mustang, I’m running the Uniden R3.

I’ve had a bunch of false laser alerts with the R3 so I finally disabled laser. Also getting a bunch of what I think are BLIS alerts.

I think the R3 is a great detector with great range but I’m still looking for the great whatsis.

Max 360 with KA, POP, and laser turned on. K and X band aren't used in my area unless it's some small town in the middle of nowhere.

I've been running an R3 for quite a while, BSM filtering is good, not flawless and was better before the last update to add MRCD coverage. My V1 was slightly better (with time delay settings), but had no range. I've got a Max2 but it was terrible so I never use it. In my beater car I've got a Radenso Pro M and it's got the best filtering, range is good compared to most detectors, but no where near the R3.

I've got an R7 ordered, hopefully it'll have the range of the R3 with arrows (and autolockouts once Escorts patent expires this summer).

Yeah I've been following the R7 for a bit and that will probably be what I end up going with.

I wasn't getting false alerts on KA until the past few days. Turns out that the new Chrysler minivans use KA for blind spot monitoring now.

There ought to be a regulation on this so all Blind spot detection is on the same unused frequency. Been using the Uniden R3 for almost a year. Works great - saved my but on KA a few times and Laser once. ( almost skidded to a reduced speed- and got away lol)
Need another unit for another car and was wondering if there was anything better - so far I have not found it

Follow up = I just ordered another Uniden R3 for a second car.
