No experience on the Mustang specifically, but when I wash the Green filter for my Focus, I put it in the dryer with no heat on the little shoe rack so it doesn't bounce around. That'll dry it in 2 hours flat.

I washed my aem dry air filter and left it drying like 2 hours. Then i installed it and started the car up and it died. Checked the air filter again and water got inside the inlet tube it still wasnt dried. Had to dry things up and had to leave it more time drying.
Please be carefull.
In what ambient temperature did you do this?
Where I live it would be dry in 5 minutes (44ºC)

For those like me with a gas forced air furnace, just put on one of the floor vents.
This is what I do in the winter for a lot of things besides air filters. It the summer I put them out in the sun for an hour or two.

After using a CAI cleaning kit, I usually let mine air dry overnight before putting it back on. Never had a problem.

Last time I washed my AFE dry filter, I waited 2 or 3 days before installing, because every time I thought it was dry, I realized it was still damp, and this was in the summer. I didn't dare install it until I was confident it was dry. Today, I did what others suggested, I bought a new disposable filter to install while I cleaned my AFE dry filter and wait for it to dry. This is your best bet to avoid installing damp or wet filters.

I work in a 75,000,000Btu Boiler Plant.

Wash, then set under a boiler for a couple hours....dry as a bone. :)

As a 20 year user of the K&N filters, and assuming what all are talking about. Is of a similar in design. I suggest after washing, tap / shake the filter so as to knock the water out. It will dry much quicker, over nigh dry time, HotRod down for a day ............ LMAO
