Just got off the phone with the body shop, not a crack to the pillar itself! They said it was the window seal was dry and cracked which caused it. They resealed today and are letting it dry then putting the windshield back in place tomorrow and I'll be able to pick the car up after that.
Sounds good. Hope it works out for you.

Good news but still sounds odd. Dry seal on a new car doesn't make sense unless they're saying a section of the seam is dry ie was never fully sealed with goop. Sounds like the dealer needs an english comprehension lesson.

The car is in Florida ... so maybe it has baked in the sun most of it's life and that caused some sealant to shrink up and crack.

Agreed, the whole thing sounds a little funny. I'm looking forward to hearing future updates about this.

Solo en Miami

That happens here, lots of people need help speaking and understanding English!

And yes to what GT Pony said, non-garaged car sitting in the sun everyday

Yeah but it's a 2017. If sealant only takes this long to dry out heaven help us. Anyway, if they fix it properly happy days...
