Purchased a 2016 Mustang GT convertable ruby red last Sept. First convertable I ever owned and living it. Been riding a Honda goldwing for the last 12 years with 105000 miles on it, In my old age, its time to let it go and go to 4 wheels. This will be something the wife and I can enjoy together.

Thanks for your post.

I've ridden 190k miles in the last 13 years. 100k on a FJR 1300, 80k on a Honda VFR 800 and 10k on a Suzuki Hayabusa. I've been very involved in the Iron Butt Association.

I had a GF from 2013 to 2016 with a 2012 Mustang convertible and a new GF from 2016 till now with an 04 Mustang convertible. I still ride but not as much. I say that thats it's 90 percent of the fun of a motorcycle with none of the pain in the butt. We have the top down whenever possible but it's great to be able to put the top up in a minute when needed.

I hope to keep the Motorcycles and a Mustang convertible for the rest of my life. It's the best way to go! Especially here in SoCal.

I've been on 2 wheels for 58 years and now seriously considering a 2019 Mustang Convert as an alternative. The last new Mustang convertible I had was a 1965 "white on white" 289 V-8, 4 barrel option...window sticker was $3232. I'm afraid current pricing is a bit higher :)

NP,

It's funny you say that. I purchased the 04 Mustang Convertible for GF #2 for exactly $3,000 here in Los Angeles in 2016. Not a 6th gen, but close to 30k mostly trouble free miles since then. I'm saving for a 6th gen but it's been pretty awesome for 2.5 years!

Gave up my bikes for the convertible as well. It has a lot more crumple zone. Ha ha.

I miss the HOV lane but everything else is easier and almost as fun. I have never been miserable in the Mustang. Year rounding the FJR1300 was something to brag about but rough at times.

Wife tolerated bikes, loves the convertible.

Im not giving up on bikes 100%, but am down to mini-races on go-kart tracks versus full Superbike racing.

Also, thinking about selling my street bike as there have been too many back road accidents with people in group rides. Probably not more than the last 25 years but it's getting real old losing people from street ego syndrome. I stayed with it trying to recruit those antics to the track but nearing the end of my rope.

I understand your position as I gave up on group rides years ago for similar reasons. Good luck with your decision, but I know it will tough to give up riding after it "gets into your blood".
