Coming from a shaker 401A 16 GT with 12 speakers to the 7 speaker audio in the GT350 I wasn't thrilled by the sound (midrange isn't quite as clear). The door mid-woofers handle mid bass better and without rattles, however overall the system is underwhelming.

One of the first things I did to the 12 speaker car was replace the 2 ohm center speaker with a 4-ohm Polk db351, which drastically improved the sound removing some of the imaging issues from the center and cleaning up the highs from the cheap paper single driver.

On the GT350, however, its a 8ohm even cheaper speaker. I did install the remaining DB351 from the pair I bought, and so far the sound is improved (though obviously a bit more forward since its 4ohms vs 8). I might see if an 8 ohm option exists to bring this more inline with the existing.

The next question is the door speakers and pillar tweeters... does anyone have insight into the specs on those? is this basically the base audio package with the upgraded nav ACM/APIM?

the speakers:
(Left is the GT 401A / 12 speaker center, center is the GT350 speaker, and right is the DB351)

There is a thread that talks about various stereo upgrades in the interior section, I for one didn’t change the center, but changed the door and rear deck speakers with infinity, the A Pilar tweeters, added an amp and a subwoofer, had it done by a car stereo shop as I was too lazy to do it myself, pretty happy with the results, but find myself usually just listening to the exhaust

7 speakers? I think you meant 9 speakers.

Like Wine dude, I did the same. Went with Infinity and change all but the center. I had a custom sub box built that fit's in the corner like stock GT's do, and went with a LS2 and alpine amp. Came out very well.

7 speakers is correct for the 2016 tech package, later years had more

for those that got into the speakers, what were the ratings on them (the door speakers, tweeters and rear deck speakers)?

Are the tweeters tied to the front woofers or amplified separately?

Looks like the ideal solution would be a DSP and 5 channel amplifier then wiring as desired. I can't find wiring info for the speaker config in the 350.

confirmed the rear deck as 4ohm, probably the whizzer-coned paper variety
