Hello everybody, first time mustang owner and new to the forum.

I'm currently considering purchasing these wheels, SVE Series 3 staggered, 20X8.5 up front and 20X10 in the rear. I'm going to be running 275/30 up front and 305/30 in the rear for tires. https://lmr.com/item/SVE-46401652K1/sve-series-3-wheel-kit-black-2015

My question is this..Am I going to experience significant performance, acceleration, stiffness coming from the stock 18 inch wheels? I love the look of 20" wheels on the GT but not if it's at the expense of drivability. Any comments or feedback would be appreciated!

Shock wheels are quite heavy. Even going with SVE 20s, the difference in weight won’t be dramatic as the aftermarket wheel is a more light weight wheel to begin with.

A 30 sidewall will probably be your biggest issue. Not sure what sidewall comes with the stock 18s...but a 20” wheel and a 30 sidewall...your probably gonna fell that and not in a good way.

LMR kits for that wheel have 35 sidewall tires.

My concern with the provided wheels from the wheel/tire combo is that they will not fill the whee well. Here are the tires they provide:

  • (2) 20x8.5" SVE Series 3 Wheels
  • (2) 20x10" SVE Series 3 Wheels
  • (2) 255/35/20 Nitto NT555 G2 Tires
  • (2) 285/35/20 Nitto NT555 G2 Tires
You think this set up will aesthetically fill that well and provide a less stiff ride?

I'm on the stock 20x9s wheels with 285/35/20 tires and ride is fine. I was previously on an EcoBoost with 18x8? stock wheels and I don't notice a difference in ride quality other than the GT is a lot faster and meaner due to my mods :-) Just keep in mind if you want to use spacers or very aggressive springs, a 35 sidewall might be an issue - it was for me and I had to remove my spacers once I lowered on Steeda progressive springs. I was told that if I had stayed with 30 sidewall I could have still used the spacers. But I'd rather more sidewall than spacers.

Thanks man. I’ve considered a square set up as well but just can’t find ones I like that are black with polished lip. Oh and within budget :) lol

I’m not sure what your asking. Are you implying that the tires above won’t fit the wheel? What makes you think that?

The only reason not to get the kit is because your looking for a wider tire out back than the 285. If your looking to run a 305 do a forum search for SVE and 305 and see what comes up

I am not sure what size these series 3s are but I suspect they are 20”

Those tires will fit and work, but if you want to fill up the wheel well a little more, and have a little more sidewall, I would run 275/35/20 front, and 305/35/20 rear. You can see what that looks like on my car.

305/35 in the rear?

I could have phrased it better. Just want the wheels to fill the gap and concerned the 285/35 wouldn’t achieve that. The pictures you posted help, thank you.

Thank you that’s exactly what I needed to hear. Your set up looks great. No rubbing or significant loss in acceleration/performance?

No rubbing at all. I didn't notice any performance loss.

305/30 is gonna be too short in my opinion..I run a 305/35 on a 20x11 in the rear and couldn't be happier..Keep in mind though I'm lowered 1.2" ft and 1.0" rear.

A 20x10 is a touch narrow for a 305 section tire, I mean, if you're looking for a really optimal fit.

Also, I wanted was the same front-to-rear height ratio as my OEM PP tires, so I got the exact same running a 285/35-20 front with a 305/35-20 rear on 20x10, 20x11 wheels.

Yeah, I went back and forth on the 35 vs. 30 series, especially back when it was nearly impossible to find a 305/35-20 (every brand was OOS all over the US).

Car looks good, I'm running MRR M600s, same general style as yours, in matte black. Fitment is fantastic, and I'm dropped on BMR SP080s, so pretty darn low like yours:

Are you running any spacers? How flush are you on those 20” wheels?
