on my 2018 driver side, where the side window lie down on the rear side window, the velvet or felt that is on the rubber is completly worn in two spots. Nothing on the passenger side. Some of yours have this ?

My ‘17 has the exact same problem and like yours only on the left side. I suppose it’s caused by the very snug fit of the front side window against the rear side window. As long as it’s sealed against water and air leaks -which it is, I consider it a “cosmetic” problem. This is my first convertible and over the past two years I’ve come to realize the fit and alignment of the top & gaskets requires more TLC than the coupe but it’s worth it!

My 2016 shows no wear issues what so ever. I would think its caused by the "snugness".

I am wondering if the felt type material being used was installed right???? If you look closely, you can see, what appears to be, a small portion with no wear between the two big wear marks. This would tell me the felt layer isn't flat and the high points are being rubbed or worn down.

Just a thought....

I looked at mine (only the driver's side) and don't have any wear. I got mine in early July but cycled the top nearly every day until late October (and even occasionally through November/December). No wear showing on mine. I wonder if this is a result of dropping only the door window as when you drop the top, all the windows go at the same time and maybe that results in less rubbing? Of course, that could be completely wrong, since when I put the top up, I always put the back windows up, then the door window.

I have the same issue on both sides. Is this a covered warranty issue?

I had the same thought. It does not leak or have wind noise so I will just not worry about them unless it causes issues.

I just posted about this same concern! Only the passenger side, no leaks, but looks terrible. Hmm...
