Is the stock 2018 Mustang GT active exhaust technically illegal in the UK?

There is no upper limit in the UK and if the vehicle is fitted with the oem exhaust from the manufacturer, that was type approved, then it is legal full stop. It’s illegal to modify the exhaust system to make a vehicle noisier after it has been ‘type approved’ which means an aftermarket exhaust cannot be legally louder than the oem one.
I'm with this guy.

There is nothing in the MOT tester's handbook that mentions a specific dB reading. Nor is there written down anywhere a set of standard noise test parameters i.e. x distance from exhaust at y angle and z rpm.

But if u replace your exhaust on normal car it does not have to be a make specific part
I bet kwik fit don’t fit VW and Audi etc genuine parts and would they be made to same dB level

All in all bit pointless convo on mustang forum imo
