It terrifies me that people bring religion into politics, and try to use "their" religion to establish the basis for laws. Then typically have the stones to complain about Sharia law. Pot. Kettle. Black.

Use your religion as a moral guide for yourself, if you need it. But to push it onto others is dangerous for yourself. What will you say when others push their laws backed by their own religious reasonings? The shortsightedness displayed here is sad.

And pray for your country, 'cos it ain't in a good place at the moment.

The Chinese are coming after you (the Russians already have you), the left and the right have never been further apart, your allies are being forced to look elsewhere to build alliances and you're a stones throw away from a civil war.

Who here is "bring[ing] religion into politics, and try[ing] to use 'their' religion to establish the basis for laws"?

And if you don't think sharia is horribly dangerous, you truly don't understand it.

No, the Russians don't even have themselves. And Trumps is the first President to truly address and thwart the Chinese. You think because there are trade negotiations that they've got us? I don't think... no, I KNOW you don't understand what's going on.

People on the right are pretty much where they've always been... it's the left who are moving away from sanity at light speed.

Now my friend, I am praying for you.

God bless.

This shut down has proven we really don't need a lot of these employees.
Unfortunately, about 90% of the fed gov is fully-funded, round-the-clock, we-never-close. Other than the Coast Guard and maybe a few other positions, I don't care if they EVER go back to work.
Guess it is a new low in America... Americans happy other Americans... veterans, single mothers/fathers, law enforcement, Coast Guard (some who helped in the Persian Gulf during war), etc... are not receiving a check.

That does not even count the contractors. Some dumbazz in another thread on here said "conservatives should be happy". Well, I've not met a true conservative who would be happy about all the businesses suffering all over the USA. I guess you guys can keep saying "f*** those Americans!" all over the USA.

If that is not anti-american, I'm not sure what is...

Glad I'm not happy when a plant closes in Michigan...

It is beyond sad... but I guess that is how russian operatives work. Just kidding.... but it is ignorant. Ignorant as people saying, "I hope Trump fails". Seriously? Why would someone want an American President to "fail". That is ignorant.

At one point it was more than half of the 800,000 not getting paid. But an attempt in this thread to minimize the impact. 90%? But again, time and time, we see "created numbers" on this forum and the forum members go "Oh, I don't know, I did not research it". Right....

Hopefully a pandemic won't break out in either of your home towns... the people who can REALLY help you quickly are on furlough.

Guess I will wait on all the silly replies... "snowflake and emotion" comments... ha ha....

I couldn't agree more^. My 30 year old son thinks the younger crowd is starting to see things for what they are. I hope he's right, but I doubt it. This whole Trump thing is either going to buy a little time or hopefully change the younger minds. We are living in very interesting times. It wears you out.
Maybe young people are seeing threads like this and going, "WTF is up with those old angry guys?"

The thread starts off unbalanced.... and never corrects itself.

Listen to yourselves (the last sentence maybe the most telling... I can't remember which psychopath I read, but psychopaths talk like that):

  • will chop half her cancerous body parts off
  • offered any of their body parts to keep her going
  • Femi-Nazis
  • Humans are inherently lazy and selfish
  • I would estimate that 80% of Americans do not want to live in a free country
  • I personally have trouble feeling a lot of empathy for someone that I don't know

My first thought was not to engage you but that's how we've arrived at this place the left has created for us where we wonder if they're finally going to succeed in taking us over the edge into socialistic hell.

As an American--who served as an officer in the United States Army, so I really don't take kindly to the "Russian troll" jokes--I look at government the same way Thomas Paine did: "Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one." It's been intolerable for a while now.

Am I happy all of these other "Americans" are not getting a paycheck? Let's leave aside, for now, the FACT that every one of them will be paid in full once this pissant of a shutdown is over. Let's, instead, ponder if they should have EVER been employed in the first place. The Federal budget is now almost $4 TRILLION DOLLARS with unfunded liabilities approaching $210 TRILLION FRIGGING DOLLARS. There is not now, nor will there ever be, enough money at any point in the future to pay a small fraction of this sum. How did we get here? For starters, by making the Federal govt as bloated, unwieldy, and non-responsive as possible. Maybe some of these "non-essential" and a huge pile of the non-essential "essentials" should look to the private sector for employment. Then, instead of consuming our tax dollars at $4 TRILLION a year, they could be a net-positive inflow to the treasury. So, no, I'm not happy they're not getting a paycheck, I'm not happy so many unneeded people--call them "essential" or "non-essential"--were hired in the first place.

Like all good lefties, you make the appeal to emotions that's easy to sound-bite but doesn't actually mean anything: "It's for the children!!!" or "Republicans want to starve women and don't care if they get raped!!!". Conservatism requires actual thought that isn't easy to sound-bite in 5 seconds. Unfortunately, the left's iron grip on every level of the education bureaucracy has been in place for decades now and critical thinking is not only no longer taught, it's actively discouraged and, if you don't get the message, it's punished.

By the way, genius, LITERALLY 85+% of the Federal govt is untouched by this shutdown. The money continues to be allocated and paid and never comes up for a discussion because we don't have budgets any longer, just an unending series of CRs. This is wholly and completely UNCONSTITUTIONAL but who cares? You people have attacked the Constitution for years. Congratulations. I hope you like what you've wrought: government by bureaucratic fiat--in other words, we are no longer a nation of laws, we are a nation of leftist politicians.

In the event of a pandemic ("Never let a good crisis go to waste" - Democrat scum Rahm Emmanual) all necessary personnel would be ordered back to work.

The govts responsibility is primarily security of the nation. Alarmingly, that's the ONLY thing the left doesn't want to do.

Why am I not surprised to see that you live in DC?

Maybe us "old guys" don't want to watch you destroy America any further and that's why we can be a bit peeved.

Now I'm a "leftist" again? Ha ha ha.... Anyone who does not agree with your hate and pain is in the "left box". Guess if that is how you want to process it, that is fine.

Around 800,000 Americans missing two checks is just fine with you? I don't care if they should have an emergency fund... or if they are getting paid when it is over. The contractors don't get paid.... so far at least.

The joy this thread took of Americans being out of work is sicking. And it was already a sick thread. There should be no place for anti-american talk near you. Wake your ass up and remember why you served. Don't let politics get in the way here... no room for it.

Politics has fallen so far. You scream of common sense, but defend and find joy in Americans being out of work. There is no lens I can look through to enjoy that with you. Sorry.

There is not a "sound-bite" or "emotions". When a single mother of five (one in college) tells you (over the phone, directly) they are rationing food... well.... when a fellow veteran tells you they don't know what they are going to do in two weeks... well.... when another person tells you bills won't get paid and they have to miss a doctor's appointment. But I'm sure you and your side kicks will find joy in that... nothing better to help you sleep tonight or have a wonderful day in church tomorrow. Praying for more pain and suffering to Americans all over the USA (because the people above are all over the USA, not in DC -- heck, mom of five is also a disabled vet). And no, unemployment is not that easy in many states...

And what is with the "you people" comment? Wrought what? Are you saying it is Trump's fault that gov't is fat? Are you upset about the tax law signed or something? I don't get where you are going.... sounds like a bunch of rambling since you don't know what I do.

Anyway, I agree with you about the deficit. Far as the responsibility of the gov't, I sorta agree... although helping society directly keeps the nation secure. It is like several people who came into DC two years ago (working in the gov't) realized the importance of different job functions. What surprises most people is how interconnected everything is.... move one piece here and two thousand miles away there is an impact. Most were like, "we are going to burn this mother down!" Then they went, "Oh, if we do that, then this will be the impact. Hmm... how can we fix it? This is important."

If you want to change how many Americans are hired by the gov't, and cut government, then you have to vote for someone to do just that.

Remember though, someone (or something) has to do the work -- unless you don't want the work done... then there is an impact, most of the time unseen.

I often here people talk about "big gov't" but they are normally ill-informed and parroting since it sounds nice to certain other people. Come with a plan and I'll listen. Throw your fist up at the sky and scream "lefties are after us" well... that sounds crazy.

I said it before and will say it again "all of this has turned into a huge "us against them". I can't win if the other side is not losing.

Sounds like "fist in sky, screaming at the clouds". Matter of fact, it is exactly what I said kids would cringe at...

So I'm going to "destroy America"? Why, because I don't agree with your anger and pain? I was only making an observation anyway... this thread is unbalanced.

Since you don't know me, I'm not sure what you are going on about.

I'm from the gov't, I'm here to help! Ha ha ha.....

All jokes aside, I will put some Americans to work this year in a private business... I do my part...

Seriously, tone it down.. this group sounds so angry and in pain. Anger is a dangerous emotion to tap.

Part of this thread reads like a damn pity party (woe is me, the left is going to win).... I'm like wtf?

Yep, I knew it was going to be a waste of my time. "You're a HATER!!!" Don't forget to stamp your foot when you shriek that. And, yes, you are a lefty. Not surprised you deny it but your posts bleed it.

I'm still searching for the "joy" you say I've found in Americans being out of work. My painfully obvious point is that we (the taxpayers who pay for everything) are tired of being taken advantage of in the name of massive govt. You don't get Trump or why he was elected. And you never will.

I have to admit though, you have a sense of irony--even though it's completely unintentional: you tell me your "argument" is not emotional then follow that claim up by whipping out the old heartstring harp and playing a symphony for us all. "There is not a "sound-bite" or "emotions". I don't get why trump was elected? You are freaking delusional... or a bad spin doctor. If someone is not filled with hate and pain, you can't relate.

Guess you don't like being called anti-american. I get it. All you have to do is STOP. When you see others posting BS, speak up.... don't give them a pass just because you enjoy their politics. Bottom line. If you give people like that a pass, you are guilty as well.

Yup... I touched a nerve. My deed is done. Ha ha ha..... Stop hating Americans.

You did not join the service because you hate Americans. Remember why you joined/served and carry yourself accordingly.
