Do new coyote 5.0 'Stangs have the same distinct Mustang sound as the fox and 90/00s?

I've heard several newer Mustangs that sounded OK but...........

I used to laugh at my '15 Camaro SS as it was idling in my driveway;
This little cartoon my Grandson and I used to watch called Wubzy, the character
had a car one time that sounded like someone was blowing bubbles as it ran.

That is what the Camaro sounded like idling (until you kicked it in)

Heard a rumor it's the firing order of the old Mustang 390, have yet to look that info up as of yet.
Coyotes use the flathead Ford firing order.

They will never beat the old iconic sound of an original pushrod 2 valve Windsor V8. Even the Challenger from Vanishing Point had the Mustang’s exhaust subbed in. It’s iconic, it’s what defines the brand, it’s immortal!

No they sound different. I own a 95GT and personally think it's the greatest sounding engine ever produced. The coyote is nice but Meh.:tsk:
Agreed. I switch between my fox and my S550 nearly every other day and nothing compares to a Windsor small block.

I hated when the old Fox/SN-95 went away. Nothing was better than the two chamber Flows on an h-pipe with long tubes. Toss in a choppy cam and that was the soundtrack of my teens and early 20’s.

I’ve put an h-pipe on my 19GT solely because it’s got more of a deeper sound than x-pipes. I’ve not changed the mufflers yet and I’m probably doing the ATAK’s but I need to see if they’ll work with the h-pipe first.

If you want that lope at idle, just do a tune.

Say what you want about 2 valves but those 4.6's sound SO damn good. A 2v 4.6 with Pypes Violators and an off road X pipe and short tube headers is still one of my favorite exhaust combos.

I'm considering picking up a 2 valve for winter ice and snow racing to get my motorsports fix during the shoddy months.

Mufflers certainly effect the tone and loudness but it's the firing order that really determines sound. So the short answer is, no not likely. I agree with you on loving the sound of the Fox 5.0 and 4.6, even with my back turned I know it's a Mustang. The 5.0 Coyote sound good but are distinctively different.

The Fox 5.0, 4.6 (2v,3v & 4v) have the same firing order
(1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8)

The Coyote 5.0 has a different firing order
(1-5-4-8-6-3-7-2)

Heard a rumor it's the firing order of the old Mustang 390, have yet to look that info up as of yet.
The Coyote shares firing order with some of the old flathead Fords.
