MD hood struts

Just received my MMD hood struts. Brackets bolted in with no problem. Problem is I can't snap struts onto studs on brackets. Any tips?

Put a rag around the bottom then used a Channel locks to squeeze it together just be careful though

I removed retaining pin to install struts. Tried channel locks with no luck. Problem now is with hood closed there is a 3/8" gap between hood and fender when before it was flat. Sent email to MMD.

Hopefully they can help you .I have ford performance ones and the fit was excellent
