Right? What a heck of a time that was for Japanese performance vehicles! I Had a 4th Gen Supra TT (insanely modified) and (very briefly) a 3rd Gen RX7.

Yeah, the S55 will be a good 100-lbs lighter, the 2JZ-GTE - by today's standards - in original factory config was only __OK__ (i.e., we'll never know what a current implementation might look like), stock the S55 will be a much better motor in all metrics, it's still extremely tunable. Really, the only place the 2JZ will probably be better is super high HP builds for kids who want to post overly edited roll "race" (*snicker*) videos on the YouTubez to show their Pwn4ge ...

Close them for aerodynamic effeciency at high speeds, open them for maximum brake cooling in turns/braking.
