With all the BBQ tick issues, I thought I'd make a video to document mine sounding normal. It has 800 miles on it, The video starts 5-10 seconds after a cold start.

Sounds good. But I think the issue for most people who have this problem is that the tick develops after the first or second oil change.

I only put a thousand miles on my 18 before parking it in the garage for winter. I'll probably change the oil in it next summer. Hope I'll be OK.

That's why I figured I'd document how it sounds before the first oil change.

Mine developed the tick at around 3500 mi on the original oil... 1st oil change was at 4500 mi, still ticking. Added 1 bottle of Ceratec and no more tic! I have 8500 mi now and still very quiet.

Sounds like we should all use Ceratec from day one. Or better yet, Ford should include it in the oil specs.

AND also include a bottle in the glove box! Not sure how or what this stuff does, but it works very well on the "Tick".

Obviously it only masks the noise. It doesn't fix it. Ford still needs to figure out how to fix these engines!

800 miles and no issues... i'd sure as hell hope so

That's like saying that your black car doesn't have swirl marks with 4 miles on it. Why bother

I'm not expecting problems anytime soon. But if they develop, and the dealer says it's normal I have a recording of it without the noise to show what is normal. Only reason for the video.

What dealer did you get yours from? I'm in Illinois and purchased from Fair Oaks Ford in Naperville.

I purchased from Schaumburg Ford, and they traded Beaver Dam Ford in Wisconsin for it.

Just give it time. Once a stray cat feels secure in its new home, it'll spray the carpet, and shred the sofa.

Here are a couple videos of my car without the tick, mine is currently at 6700 miles and oil was changed to fully synthetic at 4600 miles. The first video is after oil change and the second one is before the oil change. I have the tick occasionally but i'm not concerned about it for now.
