what usually "pops" on the LT1s?
The pistons are the weak point on the LT1. They can handle 650-700ish rwhp with good tuning reliably... but that is the edge. There are simple drop-in piston solutiuons now where they can bw swapped with the motor in car and no rebalancing needed. That pushes the power handling to the 1000rwhp range. OEM rods and crank are good to that level. Biggest issue on the LT cars is the DI only fuel setup. It has it's limitations although there are Auxilliary port injecxtion system available now that takes care of the fueling. They are on par cost wise with a Fore fuel system on the Mustangs. The ZR1 LT5 has the Dual injection setup and I assume this will trickle down to the other models soon... if not for the warranty relief form DI only problems.

As far as the LT4 goes... it is a beast and has made 1500rwhp SBE
