I just got a spare fob for my MY16 GT and for the life of me I can't seem to be able to program it. I'm following what's in the manual:
1. Remove the rubber covering (A) from
the cupholder. Place the first
programmed key in the backup slot (B)
at the bottom of the cupholder, then
press the push button ignition switch.
2. Wait five seconds and then press the
push button ignition switch again.
3. Remove the intelligent access key.
4. Within 10 seconds, place a second
programmed intelligent access key in
the backup slot. Press the push button
ignition switch.
5. Wait five seconds and then press the
push button ignition switch again.
6. Remove the intelligent access key.
7. Place the unprogrammed intelligent
access key in the backup slot and press
the push button ignition switch.
Programming is now complete. Verify the
remote control functions operate and your
vehicle starts with the new intelligent
access key.
but that procedure doesn't seem to work.

Are you just hitting the ignition switch or turning on the car? I had this same issue on the Flex when I programmed the second key.

Just hitting the ignition switch not starting the car - car will not start without me holding the clutch anyway.

I think only 2 keys can be programmed at a time. I'm not sure though. Would be nice if they came out with a newer slimmer key fob to replace the current ones

Nope. Had to take it to the dealer
How much did you pay for the reprogramming? and the key fob?

My car came with only one key (I bought it used from a local not ford dealership)

Question, I recently purchased a 15 gt manual and it only came with one key fob, I have a spare key fob at home for my 15 f150. Is there a way to reprogram this key to the stang? I am aware there are additional button features will be inoperable but it would be nice to retain the lock/unlock feature and to start the car. I inquired with the dealer and locksmith on the cost to purchase a new key and can't get over the $350.00 price to do so.
