This. Most people outside of the Mustang world aren’t familiar with the designation Coyote and look confused. If I’m talking to a fellow Stanger I would probably call it KAI-YOTER, followed by a YEEHAW, which I am surprised to see isn’t an option.

I also just stick to 5.0.

Even people who own Mustangs don't know that 15+ is designated s550, for example. Found out from my best friend, who owns an EcoBoost. I told him to join the S550 FB group and he thought it was a 5.0 only group based on the name.

So I don't really have a need to ever say Coyote in any way other than maybe online. Online I pronounce it like Coyote, not Coyote. You know?

The proper pronunciation is kīˌōt or kīˈōdē.

I usually call it the Coyote motor amongst the Ford people, 5.0 for the ignorant.

I voted Ky-Oatie (COYOTE). I pronounce it as such but I dont call it that, I have coyote badging and have been asked what it is so it only comes up in conversation

Most of the time just call it a Mustang. The majority of people assume I have the V8, which I do. If they want to see what my Mustang has, they either look at the side of the car or wait for me to crank it up. Cranking it up clears ALL confusion up right away.
