For those of you that have cut plastic with a Dremel, what blade/bit are you using. I’m trying to get a clean cut but the melting plastic seems to ruin the edges.

You could you a skill saw with a very fine blade. Just give yourself extra material and you can clean it up with emery cloth.

Thanks for the feebpdback. I should have been more clear as it will need to be on the small tool side like a dremel, I’m making fog light deletes and will be cutting away the smooth material and adding mesh, similar to how the honeycomb is cut from the grills.

I stand corrected. Maybe try the dremel at very low speeds?

Use a body saw and fine blade air tool from Harbor Freight for cheap. I used it to cut out the hole in my battery cover so I could mount my Ford Hood Strut bracket.

Hey moderator, this is 6th gen related. If it needs to be moved that’s fine but don’t just move it to non 6th gen related without knowing. Please put it in the appropriate 6th gen related topic.

you need much lower rpm than a dremel, its why its melting.
if you have a tool with fewer teeth or cutting edges, that will work better too.
dip tool in some lard before you cut, and rub some on the area you are going to cut, so your tool stays lubed.

Thanks, I started using a body saw on low psi, also great idea on the lube, I’ll try it.

Interested in the results. Been thinking about adding mesh myself. Keep us posted and good luck!

Sure will, I’m taking my time plus I’ve been busy with other mods. I’ll post some progress pics here then do a new post with all the pics and a write up. I’m actually cutting out 2 sets, one is for a buddy. This is his screen which matches his grill and my screen will match mine.

Was that for the lower mount hole on the pass side?

Looks like a very clean job of cutting! Can't wait to see it installed on the car.

@Twin Turbo or @Jarstang can this be moved to the Cosmetic/Visual Mods forum?
