so what changed on th 2018 that the revs don’t hang when lifting foot off the throttle or when shifting up? Flywheel? Tune in the engine programming?

My 13 gt and 16 gt performance pack did that. when I tried to learn by asking questions on the forums all I got was ‘learn to shift’

Nice to hear that they changed that.
