My 18's PP1 front & rear rotors are starting to rust through the factory grey paint (looks like grey primer) and was wondering if anyone had any experience having them zinc plated? Either yellow or regular zinc. I have looked online but have not found any company as of yet.

Are you sure it isn't iron dust scrubbed off the rotors or possibly the pads?

Norm
Possibly... I would just like to have them plated for corrosion protection and appearance.

Mask it and spray it with this.

Cost effective proven aerosol formula and easy to touch up if needed. Yeah its got type 316L Stainless and it rivals some electrochemical coatings.

just take the rotors off, clean them and paint them with ceramic brake caliper paint. You don't even have to do a good job masking it, the pad will just take off the over spray from the rotor while you drive. I've done it like that for years, turns out real nice

I replaced my rotors with aftermarket ones that had...HAD a zinc coating. I used Patterson Car Care wheel cleaner and it stripped that coating off, and now the inside portion of the rotors have some surface rust...RIP. :headbang:

It would have been nice if Ford would have just yellow zinc plated the rotors from the factory.
