Yes...with 3.73's the Magnum or 6060 (with the 2.97 first gear) 1st would be equivalent to the MT82 with a 3.15.

Awesome. Thanks again for all of the info. Might just go ahead and do so just for peace of mind (and better drivability is always nice too, although i don't have too much of an issue shifting my MT82)

I run the close ratio gear set in my Magnum. With the RXT clutch it took a bit to get used to the tall first gear 3.71 rear end ratio and 28 inch tall tires. But now I am used to it it is fine. I find I rarely ever get into 6th gear most of my driving is in fourth.

T-56 Close Ratio Gear Set

1st 2.66

2nd 1.78

3rd 1.30

4th 1.00

5th .74

6th .50

If you do the swap absolutely go with the 2.97 first gear..NOT the 2.66.

I have the 2.97 with 4.09 rear and love it! I have never had an issue.

MGW shifter for the MT82 and no more remote/body mount shifter. Zero NVH in my car from it, except in rare circumstances.

The 2.66 gears have a closer ratio which is better for drag racing .
The 2.66 first gear will hurt your 60 but more so your 1/8 speed if you have less than a 4.10 rear end .
With the 2.66 I was still able to go 10.0@145 , with a 1.5x 60 ft crossing the traps in third gear @7500 with a 26 inch tire /3.31 rear end.

Wirh better 1/8 trap and ET it would probably have gone 9.
The 2.97 first gear would have helped but I would shifted in to fourth and would not be crossing the traps at leak power .

I have since swapped the 3.31’s for 4.10’s and it feels much better .Unfortunately not had to chance to run it again as first the clutch went and then looks like motor is eating coolant again .
The 1/8 should improve with 4.10’s and with a 28 inch tire will be crossing the traps @7500/145-148 in fourth so I think that’s the ticket for the 9’second pass
