Radiator fan on when engine is cold?

Should the radiator fan kick on high when the engine is first started? I never noticed, and with my Roush exhaust, I generally don't hear it, but today it seems like when I first start the car the fan kicks on high for a minute or two. The A/C and defroster are both off. I'm hoping it's not an A/C issue.

Update: It may just be when I use the auto start feature. I'll have to double check tomorrow.
