I don't know why, but I'm having trouble finding a real drag race on youtube. A lot of street races, or modded ones, or just terrible drivers, or ones where its the stock 2018 so no 3.9 thing/launch control.

Why do you need a Video?

It's a Drivers Race regardless of which car.

Each has 460HP, approx same weight, RWD, and the 2019 Camaro has the 10 speed auto.

Camaro has more TQ, should be interesting when the new Camaro 10 speeds hit the street.

You're right. I'm so sorry for wanting to see a video. Mods please delete this. What the hell was I thinking for wanting to see a video.

I can post videos of Stangs beating Camaro and Camaro beating Stangs.

If they are both bone stock, same setup, comes down to the driver.

Saw that one. Just figured desert wasn't street or track. Kinda weird. Also they went to subscription (pay) based for videos instead of YT.

I think people are expecting a miracle out of the camaro going from 8 speed to a 10 speed auto. Nothing will change performance wise unless GM changes the entire intake manifold design to give boost on higher rpm power. The gearing on the 8 speed auto was agressive enough to take advantage of the extra low end torque. Besides, the new car from the front has worse aerodynamics due to some stupid upper management agreeing on to move forward with a Transformers movie style camaro. I have a feeling the car might actually become slower and camaro6 will flip the s.... out! Mark my words!

A good 10 speed should improve performance over an 8 speed auto by keeping the engine in its power band more of the time.

8 Speed was already doing that. It will benefit the MPG more than its performance. This is no DOHC engine that you can rev it up upshift and the engine stays in the power band. You don't have too much to play with. I am telling you, people are expecting miracle.

It's not a miracle answer, but it is an advantage.

For most of any run, the 10-speed still keeps the engine in a narrower range of rpm than the 8-speed can (meaning slightly higher average power is made available). Once you hit 2nd, which is about the same ratio in either transmission, the 10-speed fits one more gear between 2nd @ 2.99 and 6th @ 1.28 than the 8-speed puts between 2nd @ 2.97 and 5th @ 1.27.

First 7 gears in the 10-speed
4.70
2.99
2.15
1.80
1.52
1.28
1.00

First 6 gears in the 8-speed

4.56
2.97
2.08
1.69
1.27
1.00

Extra gear is nice and all but what about the time loss to fit that extra gear change in your analysis above? Miracle :)

You'd have to know more than I do about what the A10's and A8's actual shift times are, plus maybe how much of an impulse is allowed to happen on each upshift, and probably some other things. No miracle. Just math, though you do need to have all the information.

An extra gear change with an automatic means you don't "lose" nearly as much time accelerating as it would with a conventional 3-pedal manual.

I am being sarcastic using the word "Miracle" but you gotta understand that people are expecting a mustang gtpp 10 speed level of performance change from the camaro with the new 10 speed auto. It is not going to happen. From a manual vs auto stand point you are absolutely right. Look at the test times 10 speed vs manual on the mustang. Almost a second difference in the quarter and half a second in the 0-60 mph. Looking at the camaro however, we don't see that much of a gap between the 8 speed auto vs the manual or 10 speed auto on the zl1 vs manual. The current gearing on the lt1 is already milking the hell out of the efficiency curve. Lets wait and see I suppose.
