Hello, fellow Charleston area S550 guys! I have a set of Steeda springs and adjustable camber plates coming in the mail, and am thinking about just having a shop install these. I normally do all my own work, but I will have to have everything professionally aligned after and I don't have a spring compressor. I was wondering if anyone had experience with shops in the Charleston area. I would prefer to have a shop with good pricing and experience with this sort of install. Please let me know if there are any good options. Oh, btw, I have Magneride, so it might be good if the shop has worked on this sort of system before (Corvette?). Thanks!

Nothing. I called 3 shops and got stupid high quotes.
Shop 1: $705 for spring install, alignment, and "shop fees"
Shop 2: $700 for spring install only
Shop 3: $525 for spring install only

They all seem to be quoting 5-7 hours labor, which is a rip off. An amateur can easily do all 4 in 4 hours with limited tools. Most of the experience guys I talked to said max 2 hours for any experienced technician. I did have a guy on FB offer to do it for $150, if I could drive to Myrtle Beach. That may be my only option. Pretty disappointing that there aren't any affordable options in Charleston. I would easily pay $300 for install and alignment.

There is a mustang club and a muscle car club in Charleston. They might know someone. Nothing in Charleston is cheap anymore.

If you want to drive to Columbia, there is a shop called CPR ( http://www.cprperformanceparts.com ).

Haven't been there in years but they used to be very Mustang oriented.

I have been in this area since 1976. Speed shops are rare here. Roberts automotive is the only place that I know of that specializes in mustang work. I have not used him though.

Robert's was the $525 quote for installation only. While the lowest of the 3 shops, still excessive. They are either charging an astronomical labor rate, or overestimating for 5hrs at the standard rate.

I think that they know they are the only mustang shop and price their work accordingly. I hope that you find a shop that reasonable, let us know.

Check Harbor car care in Johns Island. They did some excellent work for me recently and competitive. Really nice people.

Which is fine. This is a 3hr job max for a professional shop. Quoting me 5-7hrs is pretty messed up.

Understand what you are saying, I understand Advance/Auto Zone will rent tool needed. What would a spring compressor cost. When I did my 2010 springs I didn't even need compressor since I replaced struts at same time.
